Old Motorcycles Racing

Where can I find more info about this. I would love to race one of my old bikes on a GP track. How much is it to race? The website says "Gate Fee" is $30 for 3 days.......is that to race too? Sounds to good to be true. Can you direct me to a site that will spell out more of the details?

Moe, where are you in MI? Might be time to get a race license. Next spring, watch for my post about the Team Chicago Motorcycle Race School at Grattan Raceway. It's usually in April and they have classrooms about track stuff and some time on the track in a controlled environment. After completing the day, you can use your certificate to come race after joining whatever race organization you choose. Once on the track though, the street will never be the same.

I am in Milan, Michigan(southeast). I'd love to race at Grattan sometime! I'll try to remember to check in early in the spring. any idea of the costs involved for the class, membership, and track time?

So far the only racing I have done is on the street and out at Milan Dragway. I haven't been to the strip yet this year, but I will get down there for a race or two before the season is over. I was talking to Carl Neiper at Ypsi bike night and he mentioned wanting to head down to Milan and race is cb350. I use to work there as a kid and remember watching Carl way back then. I am going to try and get him to go down to Milan so I can line up against him on my own cb350......and then ultimately loose, but who really cares. That guy said he use to turn 12.70's on his cb 350. Hell my KZ1000 stocker averages 12.20's! Nonetheless I think it would be cool to get a few old school bikes out for a race or two. We sure would turn heads if we had a group. Everytime I go down there I am like the old school racer. Sure the Busa's spank me big time, but the harleys hate me, not too many that beat me on that old KZ.
