Opinions on clip on length

I am about to pull the trigger on my clip ons and I keep seeing differences in the overall lengths of the bars themselves. What is the ideal length?

I am simplifying the controls and don't want too much excess room but I also don't want to have to fight to get everything on there.

The DCC ones are 12" overall and a few other ones are 8" -8.5" -9" etc.

So, what are your experiences, opinions, advice, wisdom.

Go with the longer ones, and trim off the excess.

Just an update for anyone searching for opinions. I got the DCC black clip ons. They are 12" overall length. I think they are a great size and plenty of room to fit all my controls and grips. I could cut them a bit shorter but I won't because I don't mind the length.
