Hey kids, there's a new motorcycle theme bar-resto in downtown Toronto. The Original Motorcycle Cafe on Queen W. near University. Looks conceptually similar to the defunct Indian Motorcycle Co. bar/restaurant. Cafe racers are the new choppers.

From their site:

…A new Queen West restaurant, bar and retail store.

The Restaurant/Bar
Rare never seen before vintage motorcycle art from the 60’s and 70’s sets the groove to this new and totally unique venue. The designer extends the theme throughout by his attention to detail. Comfortable leather studded chairs and banquette, vintage lighting, combined with accents of wood, marble and stainless steel, make this
Queen West newcomer a must for meeting or dining with friends. Chilling for cocktails at the bar is a perfect place to start. Live DJ’s spin on Friday and Saturday nights to classic motorcycle flicks like the Wild One and Easy Rider playing on our screens. The bar provides a cool and casual atmosphere in which to enjoy a wide variety of beverages or a late night bite.

The Retail Store

Upstairs you’ll find a hot line up of The Original Motorcycle vintage clothing and accessories. The designer’s attention to detail and unique approach, gives new meaning to vintage style.

We offer men’s and women’s apparel including T shirts, leathers, belts, buckles and much more. Designed specifically for this store, there’s nowhere else to find it.

Funny, I remember reading about it a while back. Wonder how long it's been open? Maybe this will be our new haunt one night a week. Will be nice to roll up with a bunch of honest to goodness vintage cafe racers to scare away the posers.

Maybe I'll give them a shout and see if they want to advertise here ;) Maybe in exchange for some comp'd food one night a week.

Are you so sure we'll be welcomed since most of us ride lowly Jap bikes? Truth is, the place looks like a theme park and not a place real motorcyclists will hang out in on a regular basis. BTW it is owned by the same people that had Indian Motorcycle. Regardless I will check it out at least once since it's just down the street from work.

Would be fun to organize a dinner as the menu doesn't look too terrible(food or $). Book half the cafe or something.

Is there cafe parking out front?

Gee... I thought I'd order me an Ace Cafe v-twin rocker and cruise on over to this hip joint and be ooohed and awed at by all the betties.... guess not huh? ;)

DAMN NOW I GONA HAVE TO SELL THIS OLD GIRL I DON'T WANT TO BE THE IN THING.
In means more money for parts and more people copying and just making duplicates and next thing you know were riding harley's that's no good for anybody.

sitck to the coffee shops. keep it caffinated

I won't let a coffee shop stop me from riding my bike. :-\

Aww.. what am I saying, there's still only 2 or 3 "real" choppers in NL... I can't see any CRAZE coming here anytime soon... Although I have been pushing the Cafe thing. Hmm...

Doubt that I'll remember to go to this place if I'm in TO anytime soon.

What's next?
If a place like this catches on you'll have celebrities showing up on custom built Cafe's, wearing off the shelf "Retro" leathers and brand new "Retro" helmets saying things like "I've had bikes for years but my studio wouldn't let me ride" ::)
When you ask them about their bike, they pull out a pamphlet or one of their media spinners intervenes with something like "Mr. celebrity doesn't have time for an interview, here's my card" :-X

Or, maybe not. ;) ;) :D

I walked in there when I was in Toronto to checkout the shop, but it was closed. The restaurant part looks pretty nice though.

Well, we could go there and do burnouts in front of the door. Or heck, didn't some guy ride his bike right into the Ace Cafe way back in the day to get his tea? Maybe we can get Noel to do that.

Does anyone know if this place is still around?
Theres talk of meeting up for eats this thursday night rather than the usual haunt at Tim Hortons...

If it's still open and owned by the owners of the now defunked Indian

You can bet they won't want your kind there

Unless you're into $20 calamari and $15 chocolate matinees

Call me old fashioned but I’m not the kind of guy that needs to get all pressed and dressed just to hang out and have a coffee

I pass by this place everyday, i dont think i've ever seen a bike parked in front of it, or in the lot next door. It's a total hipster hangout.
