Out in a field Build ... XS 500 The Sock Monkey ( Finished pics ,video, )

Re: Out in a field Build ... The Sock Monkey

Got to pick up the tins over the weekend and i have to say im very happy with how they turned out. Told myself i would not put the tins on till after i got the wiring done and a few other things. But i just had to know how much diff it made the look and been waiting to see it in color for a long time. Plans from here are to finish wiring , pick up a new chain, order new pods, and see if i can get it started !

I love the color and all, but, man, you need some stripes or something to break up all that red...

Re: Out in a field Build ... The Sock Monkey

Well the bike got all pulled apart down to the frame . Was funny looking at it just sitting there like when i started the build. Took it to a powder coater today so should get it back sometime next week. So till it gets back will be working on some small details. When it gets back i will be ready to start lock tighting stuff down . Will also be working on front disk mounting and caliper so stay tuned........

Re: Out in a field Build ... The Sock Monkey

Well picked up my frame today and man it looks great ! Time to get this bike on the road and have some fun with it . Got alot done as far as small stuff taken care of and my new spacer and caliper holder are in the works . Will be droping the motor in tonight along with a few other parts. My plan as it may be is to just work slow and make sure all is right . I also plan on haveing on the road by the end of this month or mid of june . Will still need a lil tuning im sure but man can feel the grin on my face already LOL
LET THE FUN START !!!!!!!!!

Cant wait to see it come together and lets see a video of the start up

Re: Out in a field Build ... The Sock Monkey

I have a video of it starting but for some reason cant get it to post but will get it up some how .

OK so i started last nights work by cleaning any PC off of the spots i dont want it . Was not to bad over all with a lil sanding here and there . Then moved on to getting some legs under the bike with the swingarm and shocks. Took lil longer to do this so to the fact my brass bushings needed some fine tuning . Got it nice and smooth and working like it should and went togther nice . My buddy sstop over who is making my spacer for the FZR front brake set up and ran into a small problem . Do to the fact im running 77 RD400 wheels , 78 XS500 forks i cant running the spacer that we thought we could . So we spent the rest of the night comeing up with a few ideas and in the end got it figured out . Now just need to wait till some Alum comes in to make the new spacer and get it mounted . We did throw the disk on to see how it looked and if everything will line up and not rub on anything or jam and throw me over the bar on to my face . Didnt get as far as i would have liked but not in a rush or bad things could happen . So at the end of the night i couldnt help but throw the tank and seat on to see out it looked . I can still move forward and get a few other things done till the spacer is ready so the next thing im planing to do it get the front forks on and wheels ..........
