More jets should be here tommrow but trying to work out a bug in the kill button now . It worked fine when the Newtronics turd was in and after the points went in had one wire to nothing . My kill/starter button is in one unit and has 4 wires coming out . Starter button works fine but no kill button now . One wire is to stater , two are to coils I believe and 4th just there any ideas ? I tried and thought it might be a ground but when grounded it to battery popped the fuse
Not sure about that switch housing and what comes out of it, however here is what the stock wiring looks like:
The Brown is the 12v+ pos from your main switch (your key)
The Red with white wire goes to the coils when the kill is in the "run" position feeding 12v + pos ( yes, this one wire feeds both coils 12v+, the L & R ignition circuits are separated at the individual contact breakers, not at this side of the circuit )
The Blue with white sends 12v - neg to the starter solenoid (when you push the starter button, it complete the circuit by grounding with the housing ( or ? in your non stock switch ) . The 12v+ at the solenoid is supplied by the main switch )

O it helped Dean as I got the kill switch working last night ! So now this weekend I can dial in the carbs as there really close with no covers on the filters LOL bike was sounding real sting last night just didn't have time to get it out on the road ! Thanks for the help
Re: Out in a field Build ... XS 500 The Sock Monkey ( Finished pics and video )
Because i cant leave things alone and keep telling myself " I got it, the carbs are right " ! Which if youve worked on carbs thats hardly ever true ! Well been riding the bike for a few days and im still not happy over all with the fell of the throttle . So last night i messed with them lil more to see if i can get a nice crisp feel . Well i think im one step closer now as theres NO hesitation now on the bottom end . And the fun continues ...........

You know it my friend !
Rode the monkey to work today and as I was pulling into my shop to bike just wanted to die. Rolled in and hit the button and nothing , took a look and no headlight . Got it out back to take a look and found the charger quick connect was hanging under my seat and the open side of it was resting on my frame so I think it sucked all the power out of the battery ! OOOppppps LOL
Re: Out in a field Build ... XS 500 The Sock Monkey ( Finished pics and video )
LOL yea the exposed bullet was just laying Against the frame ! Have a charge on the way and a cover for it ! You know it was one of those thing that I saw it and keep telling myself might be a problem but didn't do anything also thinking Ooo it ok ! How wrong that thought was LOL live and learn !
Re: Out in a field Build ... XS 500 The Sock Monkey ( Finished pics and video )
Thank you sir !
Well been running the bike all weekend and got the lower part of the carb good . Did a WOT plug chop and was a lil lean at 120 so bumped up to 140 . Seems to have been a big improvement ! That is till now LOL ..... Put the 140s in and took it out for a on / off throttle trip ,got about 15/20 miles in and bike seemed to run out of gas . Looked down and all was good there ! Came to a stop and dead on side of rode ... O well that's why the call it working the bugs out . On a side note think everyone with a bike that drove by stopped to ask if they can help !!!! I think it has renewed my faith in bike folk waiting for truck and trailer to show to get it home and check out the problem LOL

Did you line your tank? When my buddy and I put his bike together, we had tons of issues with stalling... Turned out there was dirt in the tank blocking the pickups. So we'd let it sit for a few, the dirt would settle out, and it'd start right up, but after riding a short ways, the dirt would block the pickup, and it'd stall again. Very frustrating....
Re: Out in a field Build ... XS 500 The Sock Monkey ( Finished pics and video )
No it's not the tank it's either A: wiring or B: battery I'm thinking ! Once I stoped it wouldn't even turn over and had no head light . Ill get it figured out if its not one thing it's another

Scott, I rode my GS down to Troy's a couple months ago and it died on me at a gas station (obvious weak battery). Mine was just a bullet connector came loose in the charging system..... Hopefully your problem has an easy solution!
