I have a set of the shorty, 17" reverse cone mufflers on the way soon. The pics are nabbed from ebay, but they're the same mufflers.
One common complaint about these mufflers is that they're loud. It looks like the end cap is removable. Has anyone tried wrapping the baffle with fiberglass muffler wrap or packing to muffle the sound a bit? Not wanting to choke 'em or completely silence them, but I was wondering if a little muffler packing would mellow the sound a bit?
They are loud only if you remove the baffle, but they are even louder if you remove the ends, basically you have open headers. Open headers were too loud for me.
I have the same mufflers, and what's inside really cant be described as baffles at all. It's just a perforated tube wrapped in packing just like most sportbike mufflers. In my case the super shitty packing all blew out in a matter of days and they got really loud. I repacked using a FMF 4stroke Dirt bike repack kit and they are much mellower now.
