sorry i´m pretty sure you already posted which product you used for that great blue metallic?
i´m planning on using the same color and shooting some 2K spray max over it.

Ryan, that is the Duplicolor Metal Specs Blue in rattle can.

Very nice! How may clear coats?
I did one dust coat then two heavy top coats. Actually that was right about one cans worth just for the tank!

So might be more cost effective to by a quart and mix up your own for more than a tank... Gonna go see the paint gods and add it all up, maybe I'll build a mini booth and try this out.

that sounds right, 1 can did my CX500 tank and the small cowel I built, it was the perfect amount for a deep shine and protection without waste. I am hoping 3 cans does the fenders, side covers and tank on the Magna, that is a big bike too though. I would say on something the size of an RD or dirt bike 2 cans would cover all the tins, and fenders etc. nicely. That works out to 50 bucks local here to me and no cleanup of guns, mixing or compressor needed.

$50 sounds reasonable enough... I asked at Napa and it was $40 a can made up not a retail can.

I get mine for 23-25 a can at NAPA but it is Spraymax 2K, if they blend clear it is more pricey and you have to use in 24-48 hours. Spraymax is good for a year or so on the shelf until you activate it with the included tool then it is 24-48 hours life.

Edit: Also Eastwood makes a 2k, I haven't used it but I have read it is near identical to the Spraymax

Tank looks awesome Ryan!

This is getting me excited to do mine with Metal Specks Retro Red this weekend.

Don't forget prep is the most important part :)

It looks good, but it's still rattle can. And the exact same color as 1,000 other bikes that were spray painted. But to each their own.

It's funny, I haven't seen another bike with that same color and the bike I'm restoring is blue flake stock. If you saw my tank up close you wouldn't know it was done with spray cans. Not really sure what your getting at?

Whats really the difference of rattle can to pro job?
Color deepness?
I more likely invest the 500 euro plus for a pro job in a nice set of chambers for my RD...

Ryan, I made my own expansions too! About $35 for materials and $150 for the carbon silencers.

I prefer building bikes like the Suzuki over restorations just so that I can build everything the way I like it.
If you look at my build for the Suzuki you will see how I built the expansions. Good luck and I totally agree about making your own stuff, much more rewarding.

Where are you still able to get cone rings... I haven't made an expansion chamber in a while, but need to soon.

Thanks,
RD
