Paint Help.What is this color?

Two Wheel Projectile
I saw a naked sport bike today. The frame was painted a darker silver, but not quite charcoal color. It had a few coats of clear and looked spectacular.I was hoping to do something like this with rattle cans.I have become quite good(not great) with the old marble can.Anyone have any ideas what color to look for or how to darken up basic silver? Is there a name for this color?

Sounds like a very rare colour that only a very few have access to, it's called unobtanium and comes in a few shades ask at your local paint shop they may know someone in the black market that could get you some ;)

Problem is, even if you post a pic of it everybodys monitor will be a different settings and look slightly different.
Go to the auto parts store and search through the Duplicolor paint chip books or can caps to find what you want for referance... then find an epoxy or 2K paint close to the same color.

True.

I didn't have a cam and if I did,I wouldn't have been able to get a pic.He was moving.I was stuck in my cage at a red light.

Was it a stock bike? If so, if you knew the model you should be able to track down the colour that way.

Stock, yes, but it had been repainted.I think it was a naked SV or a Bandit.I was transfixed on the frame color. It wasn't the traditional Zuk silver. It was a Zuki tho.Big Zuk S right on the tank.

I know you said Charcoal was too dark so I didn't post mine... but since you say it was darker than that Cobra.
My GS750 frame is Rustoleum metalic charcoal.

That is pretty damn close. Not quite as much metallic as yours compared to the one I saw in traffic.Either way,it's close enough for me.Mind if I steal your paint color for my frame?

Just to be sure.Is this it. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001UE7MOC/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=manicycl-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B001UE7MOC

Yep, that's the stuff... but I think Walmart had it cheaper than $11 a can.
Have at it although it's not the most durable stuff I've ever used.

Did you clear coat it?One pic it looks like you did.

Nope, no clear coat. The outside pic is the best representation of it's color, the second one is with a 100W incondescent bulb for lighting inside the shop so it gives it a "yellow" cast that isn't really there...

Thanks.I plan on using a clear coat.Maybe that will help with durability.
