Paint job completed

I have started dabbling in a little side business painting bikes. Nothing real serious yet, but I am doing a few. Here is the 1100 V-Star of my latest customer. He bought this bike new last year, and it was originally maroon with Gothic flame decals under the clearcoat. He wanted something a little more imaginative than that, so here it is:

Not a cafe racer, but I think it is kind of cool.

Very sharp man! I've got another xs400 lined up for next winter's build. Not looking forward to hauling it to the painter in Billings! ;)

That is a long trip for paint! When are you leaving? I tried to get out there, but have been swamped at work. You around tomorrow?

Congrats on another 400! I am stuck on a CB750 for the Snap-on dealer, which is moving pretty slowly, just waiting on him, mostly.

Decided to leave on Wednesday, maybe Tuesday. I'd like to not have to tarp the bike all the way down, so it kind of depends on the weather.

Tomorrow ought to work, but I'll be making a few runs to the storage unit, so it'd be best to give me a heads-up on when you're coming out...afternoon would be best for me. You get my number from that pm?

That Snap-on bike sounds like a pretty wild idea. Can't wait to see it.

T71, that paint job is mind-blowing! Maybe for a future project I could send some stuff out for ya.....

Thanks for the props, Rich! The pictures don't really show it all. What looks like silver paint is actually bare metal that has been clearcoated. The raw tank works pretty well with the chrome in real life.

Let me know if you ever get to that point again!

Might be sooner than I thought! If you get the chance, PM with an idea for general prices.

I thought those flames were bare metal - how well does the clear hold up on that?

I sent you a PM. The clear holds up pretty good, as you finish the bare metal a little more coarse than normal. It is tricky to paint on, though. The biggest concern is rock chips. They have to be touched up, or they show fast.

Well the bike nor the paint is my bag, but I can dig fine work when I see it, and that sir is fine work! Great job!

Thanks, man! I have been riding the bike the last few days (painter's privilege ;D), and I don't really care for it either. It handles like crap and is low powered. It does sound cool, though.

The paint was just what the customer ordered, I had little say in that...
