As for the titled engines, Yes the VIN is on the frame, however prior to 1980 in wisconsin (and possibly elsewhere) many bikes were titled by the engine number. When I say I have a few titled engines, I mean I have titles that have the ENGINE number on them instead of the frame number or vin. Meaning you could build a frame around the engine or drop the engine in a different frame and still have a titled bike.

I just found out the titles I have from the dealer are signed on the dealer line as well so transfer is the same as if they were open on the front buyer line with no extra hassle or costs.

e-mail sent.
Looking for one or two nice CX500 standard tanks. Please send pics via my e-mail that you should have received.
Thanks.

What is a titled engine? The VIN# is on the steering stem, not the engine.

Yep, as was mentioned above wisconsin used to title the engines and not the frames. I have purchased several bikes this way. Its somewhat of a pain to transfer the title over to the frame because you have to take the bike to a local police department and have them verify that the frame and engine serials are actually what they say they are. After that, Wisconsin will transfer title over to frame.

Just for the record, I've had several bikes titled by the engine in the past. I've never once had any issues transferring them into or out of my name.

I know this is a very old thread, but if you've still got a GN400 parts bike (or parts from it), please drop me a line. Picked one up today, and it needs pretty much everything :)

if you are willing to part with any CX500 CDI units and maybe a starter and a stator, I am chasing a weak right bank spark issue and a clunky starter clutch....

Sorry, I don't have any ascot tanks. If the tank from an FT500 will work alfaheaven has one.

As for the CX stuff, I'd sell any of it you'd like. email me at lightning722 at hotmail
