Peel'n'Stick Black Racer Seat Foam Available Again

Sorry - other things occupied my time last night. It's black dense foam - pretty easy to imagine ;) Google has pics of the stuff too.

are you talking about this foam?

The foam looks close to what I sell- though mine is darker - pretty much black, not greyish like the photos.
Aside from the thickness differences (I can't tell if that is 1/2 inch and I sell 1 inch as well), the foam in the photos doesn't look to have any pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA)on it (no protective paper on either side of the foam that I can see, which is required with PSA).
My foam is uber easy to use. Make a thin cardboard or paper template of the foam shape you want. Trace shape onto the protective backing paper (remember which side is "up"). Cut to shape - electric carving knife, bandsaw, whatever.
When you are ready to attach the foam, do the following. Make certain the area you are sticking to is clean and maybe sanded lightly- same you would do with anything you are gluing.
At the (usually) front of the foam, carefully peel back about 1/4 to 1/2 inch of protective paper and fold it over on itself.
CAREFULLY press down the strip of now really, really, tacky adhesive foam, making sure you are all lined up because you are only getting one chance. Slowly peel the paper back on itself with one hand, pulling it out from under the seat at the same time you are pressing the foam/adhesive down - slowly.
It doesn't get any easier than this. No stink either, like contact cement. The PSA is almost 100% solids, which means no solvents to gas off and make a smell.
So, similar to the photo, only darker and easier to use.

how does it hold up to the elements? say if a sunny day turns to rain?
The foam I sell is "closed cell" foam. If your riding day turns to rain, you may get a wet bum but the foam doesn't absorb water like say a washing foam for your car or dishes.
How does it hold up? Well, one racer said he got 4 years out of some foam, but that's not a daily ride.
If your bike is always exposed to the weather, never covered, never garaged, I would assume there would be some long-term degradation after a couple of years, but honestly I've never done any tests. I started carrying the foam for race bikes and its use has moved to the street as a low cost, very "racerlike" seat solution. I've put some on my own bike and hope to be riding it as much as I can in a couple of months, so I can give "foam updates".
Hope this helps.

Hey all that own these and use them, how are they for distant trips?? hurt the arse? I'm trying to find a cheap way of padding/upholstering my seat...

Pat: incoming, thanks

wilson889: That's a pretty broad question....depends on how much your butt can take it....

lol ya I understand, I just wanted to see if they are somewhat comfortable, or should be used just for racing.. but I guess I'll just have to order and see for my self haha..
