Perforated aluminum side panels - help please

Hullo, I'd like to cover the gap where the battery/airbox sits with perforated aluminum. I'd like to figure out what type of mounting options I could go for; along with consideration for making it easy to remove the panels.

I saw the following Yamaha - http://www.bikeexif.com/yamaha-xs650-2, with a similar idea except this will be mounted on a CB250 in an upside down triangle formation with the tip squared off.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Actually I also would like a pair for my 78 R80/7 with a small frame around it. Perforated steel would work for me. Any metal guys out there??

I was thinking about doing this in stainless steel for the battery box on my CL350. Best source I found was the web store Online Metals (http://www.onlinemetals.commerchant.cfm?id=1003&step=2&top_cat=60 for aluminum sheet). Once you pick the thickness of the material and the spacing of the perforations, at the bottom of the page you can enter in specific dimensions you'd like each piece cut. If you want to use these pieces as sidecovers like XS650 you posted from Bike Exif, I'd probably have someone weld small strips of whatever metal you choose for the perforated sheet around the perimeter of the piece then make and weld tabs to fit in the original mounting spots (or make new mounting spots on the frame and attach with allen bolts like the XS650).
