Pilot Screw Adjustment

Any tricks or tips? This appears to be next in line, then a carb tune.

I can't seem to figue out which kind of Tachometer to purchase. The manual says 'a tach with graduations of 50rpm.'

Can someone post a link for this type of product?

What kind of bike you have. I bought aftermarket tacs for my XS and found out it was off by 300rpms. Not a lot but enough to affect what my correct idle setting should be. You'll need to find the correct tac ratio.

The air mixture should be set to service manual specs. Start the bike. Up the idle to 1500 rpms. Turn the screw in to make it leaner. Turn it out to make it richer. Listen to the engine idle as your turn it. It should start to stall when it's too lean and bog down when it's too rich. Your looking for the inbetween where the idle sounds the best. Measure your turns by 360 degrees.

My manual for an XS500 says 1 and 1/4 turn out.

I found an automotive multi meter that measures 'accurate' Rpms at Harbor Freight for $35. I'll try that. I was having trouble using my ears but turns out it's because it wasn't time to do the pilot screws just yet.

I have a CB750f with DOHC.
