Pipe Size...

Hey fellas,
So I'm new to this awesome world of vintage bikes, picked up my first bike a CM250 couple weeks ago. Rewired the harness back and she'll turnover. I'm missing the header and I'm finding out real quick that some of the stock parts for this bike are discontinued. So my questions is:

How can I find some pipes the right size to bolt on to the engine, when the stock parts are discontinued?
Or just how do I find what diameter pipes I need?
and... I'm assuming that it will not crack b/c w/o the pipes, there's no back pressure to help start the engine.

I've no idea if the carb or anything else is working on this bike correctly, but I though I might start with the obvious. Where can I buy this stuff? Will parts from the more popular CBs fit my CM?
Thanks!

My first bike was a cm. same engine so a cb header should be fine. If its still a struggle to find a local pipe bender wouldn't cost an arm and a leg though right?

Pipe bender?
So if you want like original, custom pipes, you gotta find some one to bend them for you? Who are these mysterious metal misers? And where can I find one? Muffler shop? Chrome?

Thanks,

Yep if there's no specialist bike exhaust shop nearby a car one will probably do it. Otherwise its time to get a grinder and a welder, get some scraps out of a pipe bender place and get busy!!! Made a few like this myself.

Don't try to start it without exhaust hooked up. If it does fire up you risk the chance of burning your exhaust valves. You don't want to rebuild you top end unless you have to
