Plate light

I need to come up with a cheap easy idea for a plate light. I have this taillight mounted in my seat and I plan on mounting my plate right under the back of the seat, horizontal. I was thinking about cutting a whole in the tailight housing to let a little light shine down on the plate but I don't want to do that if it will make my taillight less bright. Or I could pick up some kind of cheap light assembly from advance auto or something. What do you think?

Use a small ribbon of white LED's attached to the top of the plate and hanger. should work with no problem and be almost invisible when turned off.

agree, you can just use a couple of leds.
On ebay you can also find license plate bolts that have built in LEDs, do an ebay search for licence led bolt.

If you havent picked out a taillight, some of the led taillights have built in white leds that can shine down on your plate

did you get the plate kit or just the bolts? Also, how was wiring it up...just tap into the running light wire for the tailight?

If i buy a strip of white leds can I wire it right into my tailight or do I need some sort of resistor or something? How do you attach them are they peel and stick?
