Post a pic of your latest purchase

Not really a purchase, but saved from a sad death. My work didn't need the rather old atlas scroll saw, so they stuck it behind the building to rust away. I asked what was happening with it and got told to "just take it." With a little clean up and a new blade it'll be very handy.

Ooooh. CF!

It was part of a closeout package deal. For this bike I would have preferred fiberglass. Having said that, the finish on the CF tail is a lot better than the FG parts so it will take a lot less prep work before paint.

Oh. Paint.

:(

Tee hee hee... yep, paint. If you hold that tail up to the light you can see through it. I'm not a big fan of that look. Or carbon fiber in general - it became sportbike chrome in the '90s. When used intelligently it's ok but when guys started buying stick-on carbon fiber sheets to make things look lightweight I was over it.

Then again, that was 20 years ago. Maybe I'll mask off a pinstripe or something to let a hint show through. I don't know. We'll see what happens when I actually get stuff mounted on the bike and see how things look.

I miss my Monster. I shouldn't have sold it.

Those are great smooth bikes if you do it correctly. They really wake up and run well with the jet kits (basically new slide springs and slide needles) and turn the mixture screws half turn more rich. Guy down the road from me has had a few of those supercharged over the years. Don't forget to sync them too, easier than it looks.
