Post a pic of your latest purchase

Hell, come to PA and Ill fill the Scion up with more parts and projects than you'll ever be able to get to. Maybe Ill regain some sanity that way...

DT250 is mid/late 70's, the later ones were MX (monoshock)
Used to be able to get various tuning parts for them.
Motor is a bit heavy for a 250 as it has basically the same dimensions as 400.
Leave he oil pump on it, works well and the weight isn't a big issue.
They respond real well to some porting, reed block modification and a good expansion chamber. (plus, modfy air box intake but don't remove it)
I'll see if I can find any pictures of right side of my 400MX as it had 250 'race' exhaust on it (may be able to work out dimensions for a low level expansion chamber?)
After I finished messing with 400, I was running 14/47 gearing instead of 17/43 but it was about 25mph faster. (110ish)
Went from being a high torque motor (red line 6,400rpm) to an 8,000+rpm nutter animal
BTW, I know a LOT about C15's

Just picked up a 72 RD250 and a 71 RD350 both in boxes ! the 250 motor is froze and the frame is so so good for parts with no title . but the 350s motor turns over and is all there and has a title ! cant wait to get my current bike done so i can start work on the 350 !

Not trying to nit-pick, but they're not "RD's". The '71 is an R5 (350cc) and the '72 is a DS7 (250cc). The "RD" line didn't start until '73.
Fundamentally, the only difference between the two (besides cosmetics) are the RD's have reeds and the R5/DS7's do not. However, you can crossfit most parts between both lines. RD350 jugs/pistons/heads will directly bolt onto the R5 (and the DS7) engine. And are a common upgrade because you'll get more torque with the reed valve cylinders.
Just something to keep in mind when you're ordering parts, as the top ends will swap over, but the components don't interchange.

LOL not nit pickin ! Thank you very much you answered a few of my Questions ! first about the reeds ive had a few 2 stoke dirt bike and when i was looking at the motor and carbs was thinking where are the reeds lol . And was also wondering about the R5/DS7/RD thing didnt know what was the diff as for years and whats what. im really new to " R5s " so am trying to read up on them and learn as much as i can ! Again thank you for setting me straight and the heads up on the parts !

Well it is my latest, well they are. ;D A 1972 CB450 more or less complete, a 1971 Cb450 in pieces and missing the engine, and PILE of parts. Total cost $425 bucks (25$ for a uhall freaking trailer). Pretty much basket cases but hey, I like crazy chicks. ;D ::)

Here's a few shots..... Have yet to figure out which way to go with them...

I have about a days worth of sorting parts to do, I'm gonna put the one back together as much as possible right now since a roller is easier to handle. Be on the lookout for a Resto project log in the near future!

You can also take a look over at www.2strokeworld.com. Lotsa good info over there, and lotsa good people too ;)

Gotta love them red and white labelled packages :D

I must be out of my friggin' mind........

Picked up 500t #4 and most of a 450 for $300 titled and out the door, shoulda been closer to $200 but the roller is all there short the exhaust which I have and the guy is a buddy so it goes to a good kat. Between the two there should be enough to make one complete bike.

someday.

Damnit, I just went to buy the triple trees......
