I decided to go with a Biltwell solo seat that I ordered from LicksCycle for mt DT250 project. When it arrived I thought it deserved a quick review.
My experience with Licks was fantastic, no issues at all and they shipped very fast. The first thing you notice when the seat arrives is the packaging. This isn't any chinese eghey junk...the seat is well protected in its own foam traveling cell and other than a bit of dust it is blemish-free.
The pan is a full 11 inches across which appears to be just large enough to fit your behind comfortably, but not so big that your bike looks like a maxi-pad with wings. I chose the diamond pattern but it is also available in tuck and roll. The pattern in the vinyl is lined up dead center so the seat looks even and professional.
The vinyl seems thick and durable. I doesn't feel like you have to be careful or worry about the rivets of your jeans tearing through.
All the stitching is even and each stitch is identical so no odd spots that looked like someone was trying to work too fast.
The cover is attached to a sturdy pressed seat pan that is contoured to match your butt instead of contouring the foam and leaving the pan flat. It is very stable and rigid. The vinyl is riveted underneath, only time will tell how the vinyl around the rivets holds up.
The seat pan has 4 fasteners (button head bolts) permanently fastened from the top of the pan and arrives with all the necessary nylock hardware for installation. I appreciate details like providing the nuts so I don't have to search the right sizes out.
All in all, without having installed and gotten any seat time with it yet, I am pretty impressed. The initial quality of the seat looks very good and the service from the dealer has been great. It retails in several places for around $130, I would recommend LicksCycle 100% if you want to pick one up.
Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with LicksCycle or Biltwell beyond a satisfied customer.
