So far, I have installed clip ons, made a seat and cowl from fiberglass, stretched the fuel tank (with the help of my neighbor Paul), put on aluminum rims and new tires (Bridgestone Spitfires), made rearsets and a battery box, etc. The seat cover was sewn by my wife.

I really raided the Yamaha parts bin for this project. Front fender from a Radian cruiser, fork brace from a DT-1 250, shift linkage from a FZR600, footpegs from a R6, rims and front caliper from a XS1, forks from a RD350, etc.

Still need: fuel lines, clutch cable, throttle cable, rear turn signals, bracket for license plate and brake light, battery, gauges, mufflers etc, etc, etc.

That looks so cool, i have an early xs500 1974 and am gradually buying bits for when the weather is a bit better, then i will start, to wet and cold in the garage at the moment :'( :-\

Great job on that Yamaha, it looks factory. Reminds me of the 50cc Honda racebikes you can still buy in Japan.
Good idea on moving that water heater so you could get a utility sink in between the washer and drier. Can you tell I'm a plumber? ;D

Very very nice lines on the tank/seat. Is the front fender stock or did you shape it? Looks nice, and one I'll have to look for myself.

I'm with tintin... those are NICE lines. that seat is beautiful.

Wow, yeah - I'll echo everyone else and say I love that look too. I am also interested in the details of how you stretched that tank... Looks spectacular! I also like what you did with the exhaust. Nifty idea.

The tank was stretched by cutting a stock tank and welding in extra sheet metal. My neighbor Paul is a really good welder.

I put those straight pipes on there just for now, until I can find some mufflers. The straight pipes have baffles wrapped in glasspack, but they are still really loud.

Tintin, the front fender is from a Radian, and I shortened it a few inches.

Very nice project!! Every part looks like it belongs! It's cool when you mix and match and it comes together into a package that flows together!!

Nicely done!

FUCK!!.. Very nice dude..
Love the pipes... Is that just tube pipes connected to the stock headders? or actualy drag pipes?? (hookers, jardine, etc..)
If they are just straight tubes, what size did you use?
Very nice!!..

Oh yeah, welcome to the forum!

Nice work! I'm trying to figure out where the cut was made - the tank flows so well. Must have been some hefty metal-shaping going on to make the extra sheet blend in so well. I take it you matched the bottom of the tank as well?

As far as the pipes, the look of those straights totally suits the bike - I'm not sure mufflers would improve the looks. Definitely quiet things down though!

Your bike is what they all should look like!...the straight pipes have to go,,,,,stainless reverse megaphones.......would be criminal!!!nice build!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for the delayed reply, I just got back from vacation.

Leon, the straight pipes are standard stainless steel tubing (16 gauge, 1-5/8" OD) attached to the stock headers. The stainless pipe is slightly enlarged on the end so it slips on over the header pipe. I put 8" baffles in the pipes, and wrapped the baffles in 1/4" of glasspack material. Incredibly loud.

steve, hows it going.
i know that you have'nt posted for along time, but i saw this bike and just had to
