Re: cb350

wow! I thought about doing an exhaust like that on my but you didn't just imagine it you did it! bravo

also curious about the oil lines in the side of the engine

Re: cb350

Hell yea that thing is sweet, this makes me feel like what I am doing is shit. The oil lines are making me curious, better oil feed, Love the exhaust also, I have got to get another bike soon. Cant wait to see it done, even tho it looks pretty close.

Re: cb350

building it on the nights and weekends because when I started Roc City, I wanted to build bikes, 6 years later I haven't had the time to build hardly any, only time to make parts, so I said screw it, I should build a bike to put me on the map, and a few months of really late nights and weekends and here it is... so far... the oil lines are for an oil system for the engine that gets rid of the centrifugal "filter" and replaces it with a real filter from a gn125, then shoots the clean oil through the cooler and back to the rest of the engine, capellini-moto makes something almost identical, but I didn't want to spend the grand it would cost when I could do it myself

Re: cb350

hey you did get going! very good and the bike looks great, nice job- i like all the custom parts..... it's hard to get anything done when you have to work for a living.... unless you throw bikes together with no detail or custom bits..

moving so slowly... can't justify working on it during normal hours with so many orders to fill, so it's filling my nights and weekends...
really liking the way it's looking and I think the quality and patience of the build are something I really want my shop to be known for, especially if I'm trying to get more build business and maybe start farming some of the part business out

proof I haven't abandoned it, hour here hour there... slow she goes.

got the swingarm modified and installed, built shock lower brackets, sanded the tank to 120 grit, made the cable and fittings for the front brake

Re: cb350

stole a few more hours today, felt sorta "justified" cause most people are getting today off and I worked Saturday... sad how I have to justify building a bike in a bike shop

all done

This is taking forever, but I'm really enjoying no deadline on it, it gives me the time to take my time and really focus on little things that turn a regular build into something really unique and well crafted

Re: cb350

you bastard... been dreaming of a boxed alloy swingarm for a while now.

Re: cb350

not alloy, lasercut steel, cost $60 for cutting and materials, I'm surprised more people haven't been using lasercutting for bike parts

Re: cb350

just got a "new" bridgeport (been saving for a while now) and this project is getting some new excitement, a lot of the parts I needed to finish it I really needed a good mill to do, so here's the first one!

I keep slugging away, I figure if I give this project no other choice than to come together, then it will come together.
Working on weekends on it, that's about the only time the phone's not ringing.
This shot shows the rear end all done, the shocks are mounted and have all the hardware made, the swingarm is done, all welded, bronze bushings installed and reamed, rear wheel is spaced, rearsets are connected via cable to rear brake and built properly to give good feel and pressure on the brake, the body work is basically done, just needs polishing, mounting and upholstery... I think that's it... slow as she goes, but my "style" is meticulous craftsmanship, so hell yeah.

Re: cb350

Sean, that swing arm's beautiful. Bike's looking the biz, glad you're getting some time to work on her.

I probably missed it over the summer, but what ever happened to that cool XS you were building up?

Re: cb350

made some more progress this weekend... punchlist stuff, got the tank rear mounts fabricated, front fender mounted permanently, brake cable holders installed, seat hinged and fabbed a catch, redid the shift linkage to a ccw/cw locknut arrangement, allows for full adjustability now.

yeah, that's a ball detent mechanism on the seat holder... took forever to machine the pieces but it's so slick I just couldn't pass it up
