Project Mundo. A bike from scratch(just starting)

Well I thought I should get this going with a build thread here. First I will start by saying part of this is a class project for a specialized lab I am taking. So most of the time I will spend will be solid works cad files and theory until I finish that this will all be basic Ideas and models till I can get a 3D drawing done. *Side note I have a CB650 that I have gone way to deep in and instead of cutting up a old frame and making it work why not just design and weld a new one (Yes i can weld .

This build will be utilizing a few things.
1.) gsxr front end (cognito moto) Although i will not be using the laced rim I already have, because i don't want to deal with tubes. Which then has the issue of getting the rake and trail numbers correct.
2.) single sided swing arm - not sure on which swing arm I want or if I will Design and build one to be able to have the length i need for the bike.
3.) classic older style cafe racer - I really want this bike frame to look older but designed in a way to handle a steeper neck angle and a single sided swing arm.
4.) any motor will do might stick with the CB650 motor i already own. If you have any suggestions for a better motor let me know. (i was thinking kick start but want the power to be able to highway speeds at ease)

All in all this should be a fun little project and hopefully i can work most of the issues out on a parametric modeling program

Won't have to wait long.

I'm in. Let's see the bike you're workin' with.

In all honesty this is exactly why I went this way, Because I spent so much time trying to figure out how to make this work.. and finally decided.. screw this i have all the tools to build a frame the way i want it so why not. Plus I needed the class for school so that is just a perk

soon! pics will be on the way currently drawing things in solidworks. i still need to get some dimensions from the old frame to make things more concrete in shape

Could be pretty cool. That said, you should have an idea (at least) of what motor you'll use BEFORE designing a frame from scratch.

I think I am just going to stay with the cb650 motor I have already got started on some different air box/ cleaner ideas for the carbs. Seems that the major issue with them is turbulent air flow so I need to use a venturi for the boot like to stock ones use. I also already have a rebuild kit for the motor.

I have a busy weekend ahead with work and class but I hope to make some good progress over the next week
