crap cell phone pic, but you get the idea. you can see on the back of the frame, you can see what i'm talking about

Re: project "No Love" formerly flea... new tank!

Yeah I seen. Have looked at builds on here where similar has been done, laying the shocks down more.
The most common practice seems to be doing one side at a time so the unmodified side acts as a jig to keep swinging arm angle the same.
However if you are lengthening the arm I suppose it's irrelevant.

I must say I've been having a look around the bobber sections and I'm starting to appreciate them.

Re: project "No Love" formerly flea... new tank!

i finally found a pic of a superdream cafe racer (probably the only other one other than mine) that is bad ass! i'm gonna see how this tank will fit and then go from there. i've really wanted a cafe before a bobber, though i love those too hahaha if i made a bobber that rear end would be stiff as hell with the shock angle i'd use

Re: project "No Love" formerly flea... new tank!

Nice seat/tank alignment there.
Quiet conservative though ;)

yea, but it is a superdream! it wont win any races! hahaha my seat will be longer and lower and the tank is going to sit in the same sort of place. this would all be easier with a flat top tube! btw here's my inspiration

Woah! That's Triple Porn! ;)
Ooo er! I dream of having a triple for a future project bike ;D
Something small and commoner like a 250, maybe taken out to 350, in a modern frame though.
Yeah, the dream would look good lowered.

ran into this doodle online, then put a pic of my bike factory under it... pretty sick i think

Re: project "No Love" formerly flea... new tank!

I feel like another DTT member is responsible for that doodle, but I can't remember who or when I saw it. Keep up the good work. Did you already know how to weld when you bought your MIG setup?

I'd ride it. Oh wait, I do! Don't want to rain on your parade, but you do realise your 250/400 just turned into a 900 don't you?

You've got some good ideas goin' on tho'. Keep it up.

cheers
ian

yea i do hahaha i noticed that shortly after posting the pic. i redid it on my computer, just havnt reposted it. either way, the lines of both are very similar

Re: project "No Love" formerly flea... new tank!

well, got a bit bored tonight and may have accidentally spent some money on ebay :D needed the side covers for the new idea and wanted the seat cowl cause it doesnt have the little spoiler mine has. 20.98gbp later there's this!

I really like the look of the drawing Idea. A clean modern cafe look.

But don't you need a '80-'81 CB400T "Hawk" Tank, Side Covers and Seat/Tail Section to get the flowing body line as in the Picture? Looks to me like you have the Side Covers and Tail Section you need but is the tank you have the one with the lower back portion that is shaped to match up to the side covers? To me the "New Era" tank you have doesn't look like the one taht matches to the side covers.

See here http://www.motorera.com/honda/h0400/hawk400/hawk400.htm

if you had all of those pieces it doesn't look like it would be very hard, just shortening seat to bring tail section forward.

YEp, I think Honda had that same idea with teh CB250 Superdream - a "corporate" look across all bikes in the lineup. I prefer your stripe and short seat to the original though

the superdream is essentially the same bike as the 400t with the same tank and panels. the tank on the frame now is froma cg125

i'm thinking about taking my original seat and cowl and shortening it less along with the new one so i can ride 2 up every now and then and attach the seats with wing nuts or something along the lines... thoughts?

BTW that Kawi KH400/S3 is too low and has almost no rear suspension travel. looks mean but I'm less sure that it's safe to ride.

Lowering rarely improves handling - unless we're talking all out drag bikes of course.

i know, i was thinking about going the bobber style route, but i've changed my mind... again

how do i pick out a set of clipons? i don't think this bike will look good with my flipped handlebars so i'd like to track some down
