project opportunity 15 year old 250cc dirt bike

A friend of mine noticed that I am capable of getting bikes running again (apparently cleaning a carb is magic) and she has expressed that if i can get most of there bikes going again that I could keep one. My thought is to make it look a little more vintage and enduro it, put a slightly smaller rear sprocket on and make it into a fun toy. The question is to mod or not to mod. Any thoughts, ideas, and inspiration are welcome.

If it is a twin spar frame it'll be tough to make it look vintage. Last dirt bike that I owned was a 2001 cr250 and it was a beast. Wish that I still had it.
