When you use a battery like that honda 919 one, can that be mounted on it's side? I'm exporing different options, and if i could side mount it, it could work really well.

Yes, it's a sealed battery and can be mounted upside down if you need to. Batteries like this are often used for electric power chairs and such and they can't exactly have them leaking in the environments that those scooters get used in.

The battery I have in the CB450 is in fact a sealed version of a stock 919 battery. The only reason I went with a sealed was becasue I thought I might have to mount the battery in a weird/funky position (which I did not). If I were to replace this battery I would prob. get another sealed battery, but could easily get away with a reg, old Yuasa battery I am sure...

I bought the same seat and I can fit my stock battery under the hump, but I went with a sealed one as well.

So ProTeal you find it runs your electric start with no issues? I figure if it's good enough to crank a 919 it must be good enough to crank my lowly XS650 twin. I'll mock up a dummy out of styrofoam or something and see where I can put it.

I have no issues what so ever cranking over the CB450 with this battery (as long as it is charged).
I have a draw somewhere on the bike, and if I let the bike sit for more than a few days the battery doesnt wanna
kick over the bike. 99% of the time I have the bike plugged in to a battery tender while my ass isnt on it, but the few times
I have forgot to plug it in it doesnt wanna start.

I am a firm believer in ANYTIME your ass isnt riding your bike, it should be plugged into a battery tender/trickle charger device.
I have one for both my bikes and the 55...

Sounds like you may have a faulty rectifer.

Yeah - I plan to get a new one and install when I do a front 2 back cleanup on the little bastard when warm weather hits. Last season was comprised of riding, and fixing things as the bike was shookdown. Now I can focus on cleaning up the bike a sa whole, and riding the tires offa it ! ;D

Anyone looking for a small battery . . . i'm hiding a honda CBR600RR battery under my hump,

Yuasa YTZ10S Replacement battery

Power-Sonic PTZ10S, 12V, 8.5 Amp-Hr. Dim. L- 4.7" W- 2.11" H 4.2" Wt. 7.3 lbs.

Great info - there's a battery thread kicking around somewhere - would be great to have this in there.

Will a 9v battery work? I was at the local shop here and told the guy I was only running a headlight and brake lights and he sold me the biggest 9v batt they had, said it should work fine.

???

What kind of shop are you going to?? I would advise keeping your bike as far away as possible. Volts is volts, if you have an item that takes 12v to work properly it needs 12v.

Think of it in plumbing terms. Volts are water pressure, amps would be flow rate. If you have something that needs requires more power to work it will use more amps but volts will stay the same.

I've never heard of a 9v battery.

Now that you mention it me neither. The battery I was thinking was the big 6v ones you get at a hardware store. If it came from a motorcycle shop it has to be a 12v battery doesn't it?

Geeze... I mean... I know Canada doesn't have everything the US has... like guns... but I would have thought you guys would know what a 9v battery is... geeze. ;D

hah. sorry guys. I'll have to double check it when I get home. It's a 12 volt, but maybe the amps are lower?

As far as I know, when I hit my lights switch there's magic elves that live in there that make everything work.

I walked in and asked for the smallest sealed motorcycle battery they had.

haha

thats not how it works,
everybody knows electricity runs on smoke,
the only problem is that once you let if out,
you can't put it back in ;D
