I like to go above and beyond what others do on these bikes to make mine just that much
more unique (exhaust on this bike - 21'' front wheel on my CB750, ETC..)
Why make the same bike as everyone else, right ?
Actually the bike has the stock jetting in it at the momment ;D
It is kinda a bitch to start, but it actually runs quite well with the pipes and those huge K&N filters.
Once a few more of the "new bike" issues get worked out we are gonna focus on jetting and try and get this
thing running the best it can...
The Bike is Fixed !!!
Came down to be something small/stupid that I knew it was gonna be.
Seems as if Honda wired these bikes kinda goofy back in the day. When the bike was stock the headlite only cam on when the rider turned it on (not like today when they are always on). When the headlite was OFF, only 1/2 the charging system was working on the bike. The minute the headlite was switched ON, the other 1/2 of the charging system was basically turned on. My issue was that I was running with a H4 bulb on all the time with the charging system only working at 1/2 capacity (thus my dead bike last Saturday). All we had to do was jump the wire and now the charging system is running at 100% all the time the bike is running. I am still gonna hookup a small toggle switch to turn on/off the headlite just incase I need to conserve some power (it will at least get me home if needed)..
I cant say how happy this issue is solved. Me and electrial issues DO NOT mix. I would rather float a valve or take out a piston , cause then at least I know what the issue is. Trying to find an electrial issue is not fun..
Now plans call to clean up the wiring (we tore EVERYTHING apart), and get that all back looking pretty, and ride the thing. I need to get more miles on it and see what other issues pop up..
almost killed myself pulling onto the street because the throttle cable(s) were being pinched/pulled under the tank every time I turned the bars . Never been on a bike where you dont need to turn the throttle to rev it
Done that one myself... every time I cornered the bike accellerated :
Yah wirings fun... I mixed up my turn-signal connections... I would hit left and the rights would flash... tried to fix that and the front flashed correct and the rear flashed the opposite FINALLY after half an hour with the longest needle nose pliers I had swapping terminals on the patch board in the back of the bucket everything flashes properly.
It is a Tax holder from some place in the city.
I guess the brits use them to display their motorcycle tax so they dont get pulled over.
A few of the Ton-Up guys have them on their bikes, and I thought it was a cool way to show
what club I belong too..

And it is.
Nice to throwback to anything british on these cafe bikes.
I'm considering a front fender mounted licence plate now.
It'll either say "SE3A CAF3", "SECA CAFE", "XJ650RK" <-- (Code for an '83 650 SECA), or my actual licence plane number.
Believe me I took some shots for putting a Brittish item on my Jap bike from the Ton-Up guys at the show, but it's all in good fun. I think it's a nifty way to display your club logo, or whatever else u wanna stick in their..

ACtually, the Front-number plate came stock OEM with all Honda's sold in the UK at that time. There is even a honda part number for that piece. Even the British Tax Disc holder was, ( and I believe till is), mandatory on any bike regardless of make. So I guess I dont get why you would have to take any cheap shots just because you have those period correct items on your bike. ( the only thing is that the tax disc holder was usally on the left hand side of the bike..)

After riding my CB750 around all weekend I have made the decision that the CB450 has to find a new home. Not that I dont like the bike, it is just if I have to keep one bike as my only motorcycle, the CB750 wins hands down. I am going to clean up a few things on the scoot and put a for sale sign on it when I bring/ride it to the upcoming Mods Vs. Rockers show in Chicago. I am sure someone will snag it up there. If not, the bike will be thrown up on Craigslist , and then Evilbay. I currently have it up for sale on this site, as well as the other ones I am a member of, as I would much rather see someone who is into these bikes own it than some smuch who thinks he is a "rocker"...
That bike is fuckin awesome. I just bought myself a 1973 cb450, and your bike has givin me lots of inspiration for what to do with it... Hope you dont mind me stealin some ideas.... (I live in Sweden :
Glad you liked how the bike turned out.
As it looks now I am gonna keep the CB450 and sell the CB750, As their are way too many things I want to do the the 450 yet (dual discs-paint-etc..)
As far as you using my bike to help build yours, knock yourself out !
;D
I mean, the CB750 is cool, but I am feeling the CB450 much more as of late.
Plans call for me to get the dual-disc setup on the cb450 after mods vs. rockers is over, along with having the tank/seat/h.lite bucket re-sprayed in some sorta racing green color (keeping stock badges and stripe to keep it vintage), and do some other little things to "clean up" the bike alittle..
I have to keep it, now that Goldie has sat on it ;D
