Project "Wish I Had a Garage!" CB175.....

Had to take a trip over to Steel's motorcycle salvage today to get a kickstand. Of course after looking through the thousands of bikes laying in the yard, I picked up more than a kickstand. Got some pipes, a headlamp for my Yamaha tracker, a perfect CB350 tank, a really nice all chrome Hodaka tank and a speedo.....for $40, for EVERYTHING. You could get lost in there for hours! I didn't even take photos of the whole place....it's ridiculous.

wow where is this place?

Englewood, CO
Southern suburb (and all around crappiest part) of Denver.

They ship parts out too, anything you can ever imagine....doesn't beat going into the yard with a box of tools though. I'm sure they jack up the prices by a lot to have someone pull them then ship.

haven't really done much to the bike lately, weather has been hanging in the 70's, so lots of riding.

Order new sprockets from Sprocket Specialists yesterday.
17/36 + a 428 DID chain. Will definitely be slow getting going, but once off the line, should feel really solid. 175's seem to run out of gear quit quickly, so hopefully this will solve it. Sucks riding down the freeway, just hanging with traffic at 65mph and the motor is screaming at over 7000rpm.

bike looks great! Like to see it in person. Have you been out riding lately?
Not in the last month. It got cold, so I got it set for winter, and of course its been sunny and insanely warm lately.

Hadn't put up any progress in quite a bit, so here is a pic I took a couple of months back, before I tore it back apart to do some finish work (grinding off tabs, repainting, getting the belly pan installed)

Nice bike! I also live in Denver and just purchased a 69 CB175. Overall it's in pretty good shape but not nearly as nice as yours. Also, thanks for the link to Steele's, I have a feeling I will be a regular there. Hopefully I will see you out on the road sometime.

Take care,

Kevin
