Damn! Looks like your starting way ahead of the game. Hope this doesnt mean we wont get a cool build thread.

Yeah, hell its already a cafe! Just have to add your style to it! What are your plans for her. I love that tank, long and lean!

Well, I picked it up today it looked great, but trust me it will get a build thread. it does need some work, not heavy work ( I hope) but it definetly needs work. I will try to take some photos over the weekend, if not then Tuesday.

Here is the list so far:

New clubman bars until I save up for a set of tomaselli clip ons 35mm I believe. The clubmans on there are the ones that are pinched and weled at the arch. Well the handle bar broke as I was trying to strap the bike down in the back of my truck. It broke right at the pinch.

I need to remove the carbs and clean them and get them synched. It will start but it's not responding the way it should. I t does not want to go past 65 MPH. it's like the main jets are clogged or something. It might be the points to. it's been upgraded to a single point (that's what the P.O. said) But I plan on installing an electronic ignition system.

Also we could not get the engine to stop back firing off and on, then when I got the bike home i tried to fiddle with it and noticed that the boot that goes between the head and the carb has some cracks in it and when it back fires I can see blue flames inbetwen the cracks. So I will need new boots for sure.

I also read somewhere that on these engines one cyl, burns hotter than the other and that someone makes a carb jet kit specifically with a set of correct jets for the left and one for the right carb. Anyone heard of this? I think i want to get this while I tear the carbs apart and make sure things are clean in there.

I also plan on installing a set of tracker exhaust pipes, sorta like the Honda CL models.

Oh and i have to redo the seat because it just needs to be redone. I might go with a whole rear cowl in the future. Fewwwww, i guesss this is the shortlist for now.

Oh and I have to redo the tank because the mounting poins are not quite right. Oh and also, i need a new set of rear shocks. Etc, etc, etc.... LOL :D

Be careful with the carb holders (that boot between the carb and head). The replacements that MikesXS and several others sell are really bad knock offs. They disintegrate if there is any ethanol in the fuel! Gilligan has gone through at least 3 sets so far and had to resort to making his own. There is a guy on ebay (from somewhere here in Ontario) that sells ones that he guarantees will not fail due to ethanol in the fuel.

Thanks Lunatic, Those are exactly what I need. Plus the ones mikesxs sells are fro the 74 and later years. he does not seem to carry any forthe 73 and under. I will check on ebay ASAP. I apreciate it.

I'm gonna have to start a build thread ASAP. But first, I'm going for a bike ride on My Seca. it's 55 degrees right now:)

I have a direct link to the guys website, but it's on my work computer. I'll respond with it Monday when I get back to the office.

Bastage!!

Xulf13 already found it but I figured I'd post the link in case anyone else was interested.

Thank you so much Lunatic, I will be ordering these next week. I'm sorta strap for cash at the moment.

My build thread starts here.

Another possible (cheaper) option:

Mikuni Universal Carb Holders

You'll have to take some measurements and I don't know if these are guaranteed ethanol proof, but if the sizes match they are a much cheaper option.

I also saw these on 650 central and these are guaranteed and are cheaper than those on siriusconnic.com

here is the link.

I have a question though. Can I get 74 holders for my 73? they don't seem to list the 73 there but look the same. and if so, can I get the oned witht he vacum fitting in there and use those vacum ports to synch the carbs or do I have to add the barb fittings on the carb it self to do the synching?

I don't know the answer to your question, I'd email 650central and ask them, they should have an answer.
