Punk and his worthless crap

Disposable Friend
Hey, I've been lurking here for a while and finally thought I'd post a little about myself.

I currently have a piss yellow 1974 CB750k that I picked up less then a month ago and a 1997 Suzuki RF900R that I use as a daily driver.

Work is slated to begin on the CB this weekend. I'm going to swap out the stock front end for a GL1000 front end to take advantage of the beefier tubes, aluminum wheel and dual disc brakes. I also scored a set of Telefix clip-ons that should be here early next week.

I'll be working on this as time (and money) allows so I hope nobody expects this to be done in a week. ;)

Yes, it will eventually get a repaint but I'll worry about that once the mechanical work is done.

Here's some pics of what I have, enjoy and I look forward to your comments and ideas.

Here's the CB

Here's the RF just before we did a frame swap.

Here's my "haul" vehicle. A 1952 Ford F1 pickup. Yes, the wheels look like crap and will eventually be swapped out for stock smoothies with wide white wall tires.

I'll post more as things happen.

Ha! Welcome to DTT! You'll fit in well with the rest of us.

That is some bright paint......

Thanks for the welcome Big Rich, and yes, it is bright. On sunny days I have to put on my welding helmet before I do any work on it.

The sad thing is, it's a perfect match to my wifes Ford Escape. ::)

Welcome, good Idea to get the mechanical first before the pretty parts. I liek yellow but that is a bit Bright ;D

Cheers,

Maritime

Thanks again for the welcomes.

The truck will eventually be dropped 3" but the roof isn't getting chopped. It is just too solid to justify cutting up. I'd love to.......but not this one. ;)

I got my GL1000 front end yesterday. I was going to start assembling it today to mock it up before doing the swapto the 750 but had to help a friend cut down a couple trees and chop wood at his cabin. Tomorrow the bike gets the attention.

Ok, after a late start I was able to mock up the GL1000 front end. Seems everything is there. I will buy some rebuild kits for the brakes and new seals just for the piece of mind.

Here is what I did today, it's not much but it's something.

I also made a bracket to move the tach forward a bit so it doesn't pinch the brakeline. This is temproary of course since I'll be swapping over to clip-ons when I swap over to the GL1000 front end.

I just scored a set of nice Hayabusa rearsets on ebay for $41 that I will adapt to the bike. Once they come in, I'll post my fabrication plans The left side will be easy, the right will take a bit more to adapt to the drum brake setup but I have some ideas.

I got my Tele-Fix Clip-ons today!! Some friends are just too good to me. Got a hell of a deal on them. ;D

Great list of stuff Punk. Should get a build thread going - get a lot more people checkin out your work.

Got my helmet back from my buddy. He threw a little semi gloss on it then pulled some lines. Just had to pay for shipping.

Hopefully I can get some time soon to actually start working on the bike. Gotta make some room in the garage real soon.
