Question for the resident XS650 clan?

Does anyone know of any major differances between the standard and special frames? i know the shock mount location is differant, but how about neck area? i am cutting off the rear seat area,so that differance is gone also. (got a free rolling 79 frame to play with) going to build a hard core cafe out of this one. any help would be appreciated

Weel good sir, as far a neck area of the frame 71 to 74 same length. 75 was longer length but still had 34mm forks 76 and later has longer length necks with 35mm forks. nice thing about the tree is you can have the neck pressed out and put into something else if you would like to run bigger forks without having to worry about the neck and tapered roller bearing setup. you can also try 650 rider good group of guys but less techincal than 650 garage.
