Questions -- moving to Massachusetts

I live in NH and the shop I work at sells alot of bikes to MA, most of the time we there just needs to be a previous registration and atleast a bill of sale to register in MA. Depending on the year that may differ, I know in NH after I think 15 years you only need a bill of sale for anything, but MA is stricter.

Hey Massholes (and neighbors),
I'm here. Arrived last week, spent the weekend in Mattapoisett (where my wife is from, and where we got married), but am now in "the Dick" -- Natick. My wife has an apt here and we are moving, but it looks as though we found a place here in Natick that will work. It's got a garage for my old car, and tons of room under an enclosed porch for bikes. Landlord is slippery, but the deal should go through today. Picked up some of my bikes yesterday. Now, more questions...
I need to do an oil/filter/gasket change on my 350F at some point soon. Any good shops with good prices nearby (Natick) or in Boston proper to buy good oil, etc.? And will need a shop for basics such as fuel line, fuel filters, chain oil, cable oil, spark plugs, etc.
Also, regarding the law: do I need two rearview mirrors or just one? I also learned that I can buy vintage plates for my '64 Plymouth and run them -- can I do the same for old bikes if I can find the plates?
Thanks again guys!

Yes you can run Old moto plates But the old plates have the year on them so not sure what they do for your sticker....Oh and Natick is one of the more expensive places to Live in the entire state so expect that shops will charge a premium since there use to dealing with daddy's little rich kids. If you Go WEST of rt495 stuff gets cheaper like you can find houses under $400K and you'll start to see free stuff on the side of the road

We got a good place for now, year lease, but we will likely try to buy something when the lease is up, and will look elsewhere. Didn't know Natick was comparatively expensive. I want to live in Boston proper but we'll see where I end up workwise. I'll keep my eyes open for plates. In the meantime, I am happy to do some riding to get to a good shop -- especially today, since it's my first day on bikes here. Anywhere within reason that's got a reasonable shop.

Loads of shops out this way....I have a feeling that Most people in Natick that ride go get a new bike when they have the itch...There is a Shop in Fitchburg Ma it's called Sky Used They have Lots of parts in stock and if they don't have it they order it for you. If you pay with a credit card they can prob have the stuff shipped to you (not sure ask tho). They also have a warehouse full of used bikes and parts they will buy broken bikes and trade parts too. I'd shoot you the number but my phone isnt in my pocket....it comes up in google tho

Good to know, I will check it out. It's about 60 miles from me, though, and all I want at this point is oil (and I'd rather head into Boston). I will keep looking, thanks for the info.

Checked out Sky Used. I guess I was spoiled in AZ to have Bob's and their acres of bikes. Still, might be some decent stuff there in the boxes of gauges, etc., but not a ton of stuff there. And they don't carry stuff like tune-up kits for older bikes, or cheap oil. And I guess it's just me, but I was a little dismayed to hear one of the guys regale me with tales of the birth of the XS 650 by describing how "the gooks" went to an international bike show with "all of their cameras" and took photos of the Triumphs a year or two before. It's kind of the equivalent of a mixed metaphor of racism. I guess casual racism exists everywhere. On the plus side, someone told me about a decent yard in New Bedford. I'll have to check it out.

Hey all, I've heard about a salvage yard in the New Bedford area, but can't find any info online. Anyone know of anything there?

Forgot to add: Japanese bike show in Oxford on Sunday ("Rice-o-Rama") and a British bike show same day in Brookline...

Hey, just came across this post.
How are things going? You adjusted to Boston yet?
It can be a bit of a culture shock but under the crass exterior there are a lot of good folks here.

Shit's good, man, thanks for asking. Hell of a first winter, and I broke my arm in early December on my birthday. Got a couple bikes registered, and an old car, and have an old truck and a couple bikes to go. Finished with turn signals on the truck so all it needs is a horn to pass inspection. Got original 64 plates for my car, but the woman at the DMV (or RMV or whatever you call them here) was in a pissy mood and claimed they had been "repainted" so I have to bring 'em to Quincy. Whatever. I just wish there was more and better shit to skate, but been on a couple good rides and met some good folks so far. Want to organize a beach run this summer, might do.

Sounds like you're getting the hang of it just fine - Beach run sounds good! drop me a line when you're going
