Quiet exhaust?

For certain reasons, I want the quietest exhaust possible on my GR650. I'm in the middle of installing a 2-1 MAC system and somehow I doubt the muffler that came with it will be up to the task. Most universal mufflers are out since I need a 2" inlet but I noticed Supertrapp sells one that will fit.

Any other ideas? Maybe a stock muffler from a modern 750cc bike?

When i got my other kz900, it had a 4 into 1 kerker with no muffler it sounded wicked awesome, but i needed the bike as my main mode of transportation, and i had to leave home ar 5am. So i bent me a mid pipe from the collector pointing up and then i installed a yoshimura rs3 muffler off of a gsxr 1000. It did alot of things for the bike, it cleared up the spitting and popping, alot better power throughout the power band, and it was quiet for the most part, but it still sang at high rpm's. Il see if i can find a pic of it some where.

Lol, damn do i have a bad memory, it was a Z1 900 and a vance and hines header, anyway here is a shot of the bike with the pipe installed. This was after my custom dupli color grabber green paint job....lol

Thanks guys, my mind is officially made up. I will probably run the current muffler for a while, but I do want to go with a modern one.

If you were over this side of the pond Rich, I would give you my ZX9 muffler that's collecting dust in the garage.


But, I wouldn't exactly call it "light", and it's HUGE


Maybe a Sportster muffler or larger cc stock Hardley muffler might be a better option for size, weight and quiet??

I do appreciate though Hillsy. While I've never personally got down and inspected one, Harley mufflers are usually chrome amplifiers.......doesn't quite fit the bill for quiet. I'm trying to email sellers on ebay now for misc muffler inlet sizes. Off the top of our collective heads, anybody know of a 2" inlet?

I put a pair of 883 Sportster mufflers on an XJ750 a while back - VERY quiet actually.
