No, they don't interfere with the kick starter. I just prefer it without the kick start. More comfortable for me.

I had bought the Raask rear sets a few years ago for my 550F. After installation the kickstarter would not clear the brake pedal. I wound up selling them to a fellow SOHC4 member. Being that my bike is currently kick only they won't work. I guess its hit or miss with the Raasks. I think the kick start lever may be different between 550 F and K models with K models clearing. Not sure though.

I encountered the exact same problem when putting on a cn550K Rask Kit on RudeBoy's cb550K.
The Kick start didnt clear the brake lever. We just removed the kickstart all together so his was only an electric start ater that.
YOu could have heated up the sick start lever and bent it to clear or mabe used a cb750 kick start lever which was a little longer...

But I agree.. It was all hit & miss with the Raak Kit...

The part is for the '75-78 750F. The F models have the curved kickstart knuckle and the K models have the straight knuckle.

This is according to the online fiche.

My installed RAASKs on his CB750 and then promptly broke the brake pedal when the kick start collided with it. I'd be careful about clearance.

Nice bike! Balanced, clean, solid. It looks tough, and ready to rumble.

Some suggestions (very minor):

1. If you ever ride the bike hard (fast cornering, late braking) or ride on rough pavement, consider installing a fork brace. Even the stock fender bracket helps to stabilize the forks. (Put on a fender if you use the stock bracket, since the stock bracket would look sketchy without a fender).

2. I think you want a shorter rod on your rearset shifter (maybe about 2" shorter). For optimal leverage, and minimal lever throw, you want those two little arms that are connected by the rod to be roughly parrallel.

3. It looks like there is a gap between the seat base and the frame rails. Maybe you ought to put some rubber strips between the frame rail and the seat, to support the underside of the seat. I don't know why BCR's seat doesn't conform to the frame rails better. I'm thinking that the seat base may eventually break due to flexing, unless it is supported.

I just got a set of Raasks for my 77 CB550F. I had a question about the mounting. It looks like both lower mounts use the rear lower engine mount bolt (footpeg bolt on the shifter side). This means I'll need a longer engine mount bolt for this install. I was wondering if anyone has run into this before? Also, I think I will need to grind off the mounting stud for the factory peg on the brake side since the raask plate will interfere. Wanted to double check before I get out the grinder.

Thanks,

Answer 1 - Yes
Answer 2 - Yes

In addition to that, you will have to remove your kick starter... It will smash against the brake pedal...

I would have loved to leave the Raasks on but my bike's starter gear isn't engaging anymore and aside from a full teardown and rebuild to correct it I'll be kicking. I've got some CBR 954RR rear sets that when ever I get around to getting them mounted I'll make sure they clear the kicker.
