The listing refers to it as an XT500, but it is OBVIOUSLY an XS500:

IMO, this one is too nice to mod very much; I'd keep it close to stock, and enjoy the hell out of it. I haven't seen one this old in more than 20 years; probably only a relative few left in circulation. I consider this to be a minor classic among the middleweight streeters...

Well, I'll buy a lottery ticket for tonight; who knows, I just might get lucky...

Thanks for correcting me, Tripler; I had a severe headache when I found that ad, and I KNEW there was something wrong with my description of it, but I just couldn't figure out what it was. I'd COMPLETELY forgotten about the change in nomenclature from TX to XS back then.

Much as I like the XS500 of the mid-seventies, it took me a long time to appreciate the styling of the earlier TX models, In fact, about 15 years ago, I passed up the chance to buy that exact model; it had to be the NASTIEST TX500 in the world... it had been wrecked AND burned. Turns out the owner was so angry about crashing it, he set fire to it when the towing company delivered it to him; it was parked in his driveway at the time, and the fire scorched the paint on his garage doors before he could get it under control. Last I heard, his head spontaneously exploded when he got pulled over for a speeding ticket a few weeks later.. ;D

As you can see, I've corrected the description in the title, but left the text WRONG, so no one will be confused by your post...

Thanks again; see you in the corners...

You are welcome, i have a daughter a year younger than that bike, so i know what it is like. ;D Doug
