So got this basketcase over the winter, tore it down to the bare nubbs, and brought it back to 100% operational. Even tho it's rare as hell i didnt do a full resto as thats not what Slamo wanted. He wanted a rider that was fully capable n dependable. As it lives in my garage fulltime i have the opportunity to ride it whenever whereever. I gotta tell you, once we tuned in the front and rear air susp, and i got used to the internal vented disc brakes, perfected those damn carbies and worked the kinks out....fawk me im diggin it. Been in service since late july and problem free since then. He's thinking of upgrading next year, and he knows fer damn sure it aint gunna be leavin here lol.

Anyways, being out on it today made me think some of u might like to know there are still a few of these tonnin' up around SW ontario

Cheers

Yes front and rear are the same, wasnt sure if that would be noticed or not lol

Got them from a surplus store called PRincess Auto, $3 a light, seem to work ok so far, could be brighter tho.

Ha, that was the first bike I bought back in 1993. Was only available in Canada in 1983. It was a piece of junk when I got it, fork seals leaked, engine leaked, etc. But it ran decently and I learned how to ride with it. Had a Hindle pipe. I never transfered the ownership so I made my own license plate with plastic card and painted characters, even made a fake registration sticker. Looked fine from a car's length away and I was always scoping for cops. Traded it in for a Vulcan 750, now that bike was a turd.

Wow! There's a model that I wasn't even aware existed. This will require some pokin around on google! Neat bike though, and those wheels are the tits.

I was doing a course at Honda UK when it was launched.
Those inboard discs suck big time.
Sliders are forever seizing up, 'floating' part doesnt.
Apart from that, they are really nice bikes.
One word of advice though, whatever you do, if its got the 16" front wheel
DO NOT FIT OVERSIZE FRONT TYRE.
It WILL be unridable at 35~40mph

lol ya those brakes are a thing of beauty eh? we corrected some minor factory flaws to assure they can be counted on.

I remember you stating that about the tires on the carbie thread i started, i chose to put stock size tires on it, and judging by the ride it was a smart move for sure!

Cheers boys, figured some of u might dig it.

The brakes actually work really well when they are working properly.
I found the posts they run on corrode and force the stainless steel wear pads into slots on rotor so it cant float, plus of course, the sliding pins in caliper stick pretty bad. If you've done all the maintainance it should be a quick little bike, it was road tested by various magazines at 125~127mph

Well Slamo came over last nite n we had a talk, i cant afford to grab it off him rite now, and he wants to sell, what do you think this thing is worth? Seat needs re-upholstering, tires are brand new along with countless amounts of other parts.

whut do u guys think would be a fair price for this rare bike?

Just because it's rare does not automatically make it collectible. Sometimes it works against the bike since parts are more difficult to come by. There has to be demand for it and I don't think there's a high demand for this bike. I'd say it's worth as much as any UJM in similar condition of that era, maybe $1500-$2000.

Yup i do hear ya, and it's not the honda holy grail by any means. Parts were surprizing actually, when i resealed the front forks all the parts were readily available at the honda dealer, in fact there wasnt a single part he was stumped on.

Think it'll find ebay n the biddin will give us a fair guide as to what it's worth.

Yes, most of the wear and tear consumables like fork seals will be common with other models of the same model year but engine parts may be tricky like a leaky gasket. And those funky front brakes, not sure if any other Honda uses the same calipers and rotors. But it is a tough and good looking bike that could last years if well maintained.

Rotors were'nt that expensive and are available, pads i purchased aftermarket and were available. Engine was used in other models and every gasket we put in was no issue, new clutch was same price and next day.....seriously thought i was in for the scrounge on this ol girl when i revived it....WCK Honda in Corunna was on it like flies on poop.

These are the air ride front and rear, so i think the shocks are a lil more rare then that.
