DTT BOTM WINNER
This is still a few weeks out but once i get my 350 to the point of paint, i.gonna start building a few rd250/350/400 motors for back ups for mine and a friends bike. any way there is several 250 jugs set around and more coming so i think i figured out a way to do get some enjoyment outta the little guys. the plan is to grab another friends unused kart strap a rocket to it and go like in the cartoons, simple enuff..... i know its not a new idea by any means but new or old its kool as ice. ill post pictures soon you guys post thoughts, concerns, death threats, hate speach whatever and im sure if this gets built it will find its way to several dtt events andfunny will follow

I've been thinking of doing the same lately.
It's gotta be the most badass ride around.

It's been done with old Suzuki GSXR1100 (Gixxercart on youtube) and Yamaha R6, should be pretty simple and fun ;D

Been there, done that with an XS650. Biggest hoot you'll ever have.

So how fast did it run at bonneville hoof? Haha

Never had it at Bonneville. We used to take it up to El Mirage. Would run to about 120 or so. The final gearing 1:1. 19t on the trans and 19t on the axle.

Ah looked like the salt flats.
Damn I can't imagine 120 in that thing

You know what would be better than an rd250 motor Brad?

Two rd250 motors...

Bet we could beat Hoofs 120. ;)

That photo was taken at El Mirage. Google Superkarts if you want to see whats out there. TZ Yam engines capable of near 170. Meggabucks though. My kart was free. The engine cost me $50 and I had another $50 in it. The tires came from a dumpster at the kart nationals held at Adams kart track her in Riverside. Waste not, want not.

But DO IT!! You won't regret it. Unless of course you flip it at 80 mph.

I built this kart after the XS kart. The engine was out of a Honda ATV (three wheel variety). It was lighter and more nimble but lacked the grunt of the XS.

Waste not, want not.

Just telling my kids about my grandfather whose favorite saying was, "Use it up, wear it out, make do or do without." Great words of wisdom, even at 100 years.

Quite the opposite of our disposable world today.

I went over to have a look at the kart nationals that year. It hurt to see guys doing 10 laps and changing tires. The old tires went into the dumpster. I thought what a waste! So I did some diving. Never anything wrong with the tires.

Out in the garage I have an ancient screwdriver. It belonged to my great grandfather. It started life out as a file. When it had served its life as a file it was reshaped into a screwdriver. I often wonder when I die will I be recycled?

Hurry up and build it Brad. I like the odd and strange.
