All,

I helped a friend buy a 1976 Yamaha RD400 yesterday from an old ice racer. Beautiful bike and he is going to restore it. It came with a NOS new old stock Airtech Cam 1 fairing and Gustafsson wind screen which he would like to sell. It has never been mounted, drilled, painted or used and the original acrylic windscreen is still in the bag with mounting instruction. Wow, this is a time capsule and in great shape. He wants to e-bay it but I convinced him to let people on this forum get a first dibs on it.

If you have a Yamaha RD 250 350 or 400 or know anyone that does, jump on this to make a cool vintage racer or cafe racer. Thanks!

What's he looking to get for it? Beautiful piece.

Re: RD400 Yamaha NOS fairing Gustafsson racing cafe ship anywhere

To be honest, he wants the most he can get because he picked a RD400 yesterday and needs cash to restore it. I have no idea of what this is worth and some used vintage fairings are quite pricey for larger sized and more popular bikes. A rarer bird like a fairing for RD400 will have less demand, but may be less common and command a higher price (?) Gustafsson is still one of the most popular fairing manufacturers.

He could not figure out a selling price, so I am auctioning it on his behalf and we will let bidders on E-bay determine the final price. Here you go:

UPDATE: DTT member "Kentech" provided some great information on this:
It is an Airtech CAM 1 fairing for Yamaha RD 250 350 and 400 models with a vintage Gustafsson windscreen.

Hey I'm new here, friend pointed me to this great site. In the process of restoring a couple of RDs and he thought I might be interested in the fairing. I'm pretty sure I know what you have and thought I'd let you know.

The fairing isn't NOS (at least not real old). It's a current model from AirTech and you can see it here http://www.airtech-streamlining.com/vintage/vintagefairingsfull.htm Look for the CAM1 Daytona model.

Gustafsson has never made fairings that I know of. They make windscreens for everything ever made with one, but no fairings. Have a look here for the windscreen for the CAM1 http://www.bikescreen.com/products.asp?cat=105&pg=4

Hope that helps and good luck with the auction. If it stays low....it's coming to Jawjuh!

Regards,

Ken

WOW...lovely fairing but man...that shipping bill.
It must weigh a ton!

IGNORE THE EBAY SHIPPING CALCULATOR!!!!!

Winning bidder pays actual cost and nothing more. My estimate of a 24 x 24 x 48" box put it into "oversized freight" for the ebay shipping calculator hence the high shipping price. I am willing to remove the rivets from the fairing, wrap the pieces extremely well, place in smaller box (32 x 24 x 20" box approximately 15 lbs from 55987) to your door via the carrier of your choice (USPS, UPS, FED Ex, eta al). Again, the winner bid pays the price of shipping listed on the outside of the box. No handling, material of packaging fees.
