rear sets and starter lever on xs650

Anyone here mounted rearsets on a Yamaha XS650? What did you do the get the starter leaver to clear the foot peg?

it says right in their discription, that you have to heat and bend the kicker to clear the pegs.

I have heard of others using a SR500 kicker with little to no issues. Its a little shorter, with a different bend.
