Okay, let me re-word this as there doesn't seem to be a lot of responses. And of course this could be because there aren't a lot of folks out there who are or have worked on a GS1100E (83) as a Cafe Racer. What I am asking is, is there a mounting bracket outline or recommendation for origional frame rearsets mounting(s) brackets. I am currently in Afghanistan and have the poor girl in pieces, in the garage, patiently awaiting for my return. I plan on using the DCC Originals "Fully Indexable" Universal Cafe Racer Rearsets. Again the only real issue is if anyonbe can help on how to attache them to the frame. Thanks to all and see ya in 6 months(July) my rotation
I's still not sure exactly what you are asking. Pegs on a GSX11 are already semi rearset and in a pretty good position for the street.
I wouldn't try really low bars on that bike if it were mine. It's a very big and heavy bike to try to ride on the streets with clipons and rear sets. IMHO. If I had to move the pegs they would go back about 1.5 - 2 inches and potentially raised buy the same amount, but I'd have to check the ergonomics first. That would make them just behind and between teh wto mounting bolts for those big plates on teh side for exhaust mount and passenger pegs.
I have a tank from one of those that's going on a GT750 if I can make it integrate with the seat and side covers. It's a sexy tank but really hard to integrate the lines with much else.
Since it's such a bike bike and not slow either, I'd be tempted to make a Superbike Replica or street sled (Street drag racer) out of it.
Do you have any pictures of the bike over there with you to doodle on and try shapes and ideas?
or is it a GS1100G that's based on the earlier GS1000? Or is it the slab sided later version? Can you point us at a picture of the model you have please?
Yea, here in the states the stuffy folks had an issue with the "sex" sounding GSX so it kept the GS moniker... but overseas they were dubbed "GSX" once the 4 valve TSCC motor was introduced. (80 for my 750). Same bike, different cultures of the time.
I'd give them a shout first but I bet one of these are what you want...
