Rear Wheel Bearings.

Folks.

Apologies-I know this subject has been touched on before.

My rear wheel bearings have finally died.

Does anyone know any part numbers or bearing numbers of suitable replacements?

Or should I just trundle along to a local supplier with my wheel and see what happens there?

There is nothing tangible left of original bearing to present to anyone as a pattern.

Cheers .

Rich.

Cheers Orrible-you are a star!

Last ones (the originals) have lasted 6000 miles, so not too bad but think that was more luck as I would imagine them to be of the cheap and not particularly cheerful variety.

Thank you very much for the info.and prompt response.

Have fun. Off now to tend first sharp knife/rhubarb harvesting/finger slicing incident of the year! There will be more...Oh well.

Sorry could not find part number for the smaller bearing. Mine went day before distinguished gentlemans run. No shops open. Found a little car parts stor that found a spigot bearing for some car that was the correct size. Got it all going at awfull hours of the night and made the run. All the fun of these bikes. Newer bikes run bigger bearings but I'm sure the these the ones you need.

Sure you are right.

It has been the most gorgeous day here and have missed out on what would have been a great day on the Ace.

Bearing failure and finger hacking put the kaibosh on such fun!

Thanks for those measurements-will get sorted next week.

Cheers. :)

Thanks for posting those measurements and that part number. I have added them to the build spreadsheet page that has part numbers on. If any one else has part numbers for front or rear bearings please post here.

I can confirm that both the Bearings Used on the (earlier) 12mm axle shaft are 6301 & 6201 bearings. I replaced mine at approximately 4000 miles with quality FAG equivalents. Job done!

Thanks to all concerned for bearing advice. Spot on info. Bought some made by NKE.

Got mine from the very good Mayday Seals & Bearings ltd of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

Cheers all.
