"In the age of information, ignorance is a choice
Alright, so it just happened or happened over the last 2 months... I sell this item to flight2cdg for my ask it price on my buy it now or best offer (which rarely happens) and he requested me to write the ebay item number on the shipping label which seemed odd since I have sold quite a bit on ebay and never asked to do this. He didn't even request it personally, it was in his paid invoice auto content... Then I immediately got an email in a generic response format which I responded to and didn't get a response.

I ship the item right away. 2 day priority. It sold on Nov 19th and was delivered on Nov 22nd... He opens an ebay case saying the item I sent him was incorrect so I asked him to send me a picture of it... EVERY RESPONSE TAKES 3-5 DAYS!!!! He takes forever and he kept demanding I ship the correct item out to him so I look in my 15 bikes worth of parts and go through the tote with kawasaki stuff and sure enough. I made a mistake and grabbed the wrong one. First time for everything... I emailed him back to confirm I shipped the wrong one and told him when I have tracking info for the one he is returning I will ship this one out. No response for days... Then he opens an ebay case!!! WTF!! So now I'm fighting with ebay too. He did then ship the item back.

He opens the case as a return case but comments saying he wants the correct item shipped out. I told him to close the case and open it correctly and I will. He refused and then I found out if you open a case and close it, you can't open another for the same item... I left all my comments in the case details and shipped the item back with tracking info and left it in the case also.

Tracking shows it was delivered on Dec 30th and I contacted them through the case on the 31st saying they received it and to close the case. They just responded with "thank you". Then on the 9th of January (today) they commented back and said they will close the case when they receive the item..   PISSED!!!!

So I called ebay and explained everything to them and they were kind enough to close the ebay case for me. Although not fully completed yet it should be done completely soon.

I found out the buyer is part of Shop Airlines America which ALREADY HAS AN "F" RATING through the BBB.

I copied this from another forum to help also:

It appears that most (or all) of Shop Airlines America user id's include a three-letter IATA Airport Code.

So, on a hunch, I created a list of potential names to add to my BBL. Each name started with ''flight2'' and ended with all the IATA code letters that I could find at http://www.airportcodes.us/airports.htm

I cut-and-pasted the list of potential names into eBay's BBL form and clicked submit. All of the invalid names were rejected, but there were many that were accepted!

In the end, my BBL grew by 22 names. Based on the ''flight2'' + ''IATA_CODE'' pattern, here are the ones that eBay accepted at valid ID's.

flight2ams, flight2bid, flight2bos, flight2cdg, flight2cts, flight2fra, flight2fuk, flight2hnd, flight2iad, flight2icn, flight2itm, flight2kix, flight2lax, flight2lhr, flight2nrt, flight2nyc, flight2ord, flight2pek, flight2pvg, flight2sfo, flight2sin, flight2syd

So what you can do to help yourself is BLOCK those buyers specific seller id's from buying items through your ebay. To avoid this bullshit for yourself you just block all of them. Hopefully they don't change their names frequently but the probably do... What I found can through a red flag is they NEVER have any sold items or selling feedback. They have only buying feedback, near 50,000 feedback, and sometimes a 100 items bought in a day. It is IMPOSSIBLE to have negative feedback this way and I can't leave them negative feedback. Only way I can let people know this information is through the interwebs and forums.

Sorry for the rant. Hope it helps someone.

This sucks! I came across the same thing recently when trying to sell some of my photo gear and the guy that bought it seemed the same way. It just reeked of a scammer and all of his buying history was really odd. Bunch of small items then something expensive and for each expensive item i saw their feedback to the seller was negative with extrmely nasty comments. I tried backing out of the sale, he declined and tried to force me to send the lens anyway. Of course ebay doesnt care because they get their piece of the pie. I called them and demanded they refund that. They did and i ended up closing my account. Tired of dealing with their crap all the time.

I don't get what the scam was?
Sounds like the guy bought something, paid for it, got the wrong thing and then was a dick about it.
I don't see the major problem though?

I sold a nice Swiss Army watch and the fool who was high bidder from Taiwan never paid. Opened case to get listing and seller fees back, closes in a couple days. A week after I opened the case, another random ebay member contacted me- the same buyer flaked on this seller as well. First time since 1999 that I have had to file a non-paying buyer case . . .

Is it just me . . . selling on ebay and accepting paypal results in what seems like a rather significant hit to the final amount you end up with . . . but where else can you sell garage sale items world-wide for top dollar?

EBay's "automatic case process" wouldve closed the case and gave him a full refund and he has the product. So he would've got BOTH... But I called and sorted it out.

NOT honest in any way. With 50,000++ feedback in EACH of their accounts they DO know how to open a claim to get the correct product instead of opening a case under "wanting a refund" then still demanding the product... You open a case as "wrong item received". I have less than 1000 feedback and know this.

Google and look at all the complaints against this company and their credit rating through the BBB doesn't help the matter either.

I blocked as many accounts of theirs as I know of and I recommend other people do the same... You'll find PLENTY of other buyers for your parts and can avoid this hassle.

I have sold a bunch of new hot rod parts to Airlines America. They are a middle man for Japanese customers who want to buy things from the US. There were some months they would spend nearly $10k on parts. Personally, I have never had an issue with them.

Ebay has made it nearly impossible for a small business, or individual to do much good on there. The fees, and no seller protection lead me to sell elsewhere. I do still occasionally buy on Ebay, but prefer buying local whenever possible.

Nope, no where, this is why I'll continue to sell on eBay but I don't ship to many outside countries anymore and this is the first time I've ever chose to block buyers by eBay id... With the +/-20% I pay to eBay and PayPal combined, paying for shipping, and time getting it all done I want it to be as easy and smooth as possible... I don't like having $115.00 on hold in my account and having a single order take over 2 months...
Never had this much trouble ever. I've sold and gave stuff away on forums, craigslist, and eBay for several years and over 1000 transactions (876 on eBay now) with even shipping complete bikes half way around the world....

By far the most frustrating $115 I've ever made.

Crap. I just "sold" a Henry abe mag on there to flight2cts. They paid promptly and I got the same letter asking for the ebay item number. I was going to ship the wheel tomorrow.

Sounds like you won't have an issue as long as the proper item has been shipped.

Touché

Shit happens, and I fucked up. Maybe I'm overreacting a bit.

Wouldve been nice to have a thread like this for myself to read before my issues though... I wouldn't have dealt with them from the start.

Maybe if I would've shipped the correct part BUT still some buyers expect the part to be "like new" when it's a 40 year old part from a bike with 45,000 miles then you'll still have trouble... It's their horrible communication that makes it a worse situation... I don't have to worry about it anymore because I blocked them...

There's my rant and info. Do with it what you want.

i dont sell anything except bikes on ebay anymore it costs to much

and i am almost to the point where i dont even sell parts to forum members i will only step up

if it cant be had elsewhere it just takes to much time and effort for what the part is worth

most of the time lol

yeah you are over-reacting i sell a lot on ebay and have never had a problem with shop airlines
the majority of my sales are overseas and on these that are best offer i rarely get an offer, they almost always pay full price :D
what made you think you needed to wait to get back the WRONG part before you sent the correct part ? that makes no sense at all ::) this was entirely fucked up by you
having a case opened is no bigee, losing top rated seller on a few item not as described is what really hurts
the DSR system on ebay is the worst part
if you cannot make REALLY good money return on ebay you are simply doing it wrong
