Recently inherited 15 vintage British motorcycles---HELP

OK so I am in a situation. I am now the owner of a recently deceased family member's bike collection.

I am a huge British bike fan and somewhat knowledgeable. I'd give myself a 3 out of 10 in terms of knowing value and the history of British bikes, however I am a bit overwhelmed.

Here is what I have:

1968 Norton 750
1961 BSA Goldstar
1968 BSA Lighting 650
1971 BSA 650 (oil in frame model)
1968 Triumph Trident
1975 Norton 850
1957 Triumph 650
1966 BSA a10
1968 BSA a65 (6000 miles)
1970 Norton 850
1968 BSA a65
1969 BSA Rocket 3 (6000 miles)
1962 Norton Atlas in a Featherbed frame (6000 miles)
1970 Kawasaki w1 Triple (right side shifter)

No rust on any of the bikes. Stored indoors. Each bike is complete, ranging from OK condition because of dust and what not, to very good condition.

Other Items:
Very large BSA sign
Tons of parts:
20-25 triple trees
20 jugs
6 transmissions
Dozens of headlights
Dozens of pistons


Now I think I would like to sell most of the bikes and keep a few, maybe just 1. Hypothetically, if I sold everything as a lot, what could I be looking at?

I normally just buy and sell one bike at a time on Ebay or Craigslist but have never had something this big. Is there a better way to do this? Restore some and sell at auction? What is your opinion to get the most money possible?

This may not be the right place for this, but I am familiar with this website. Let me know if there is some place better to check.

Well, for starters, you could "donate" a few bikes to your fav DTT admin.. (me... Ahem..)

but I doubt whoever left you their collection of vintage British bikes would be very happy with you hocking them for a few bucks right off the bat.

You have a lot of nice bikes in that collection. You owe it to yourself to get them appraised.

You may want to speak with someone from www.accessnorton.com or perhaps www.britbike.com as they are more British Iron related.

Where are these bikes? I'd definately be interested in a BSA if you do sell.
 
Wow. PICTURES?!

I'd keep them all unless you really need the money. Have a bike for each day of the week and some ! Keep on the family tradition, and pass it someday.

Anyway, congrats.
 
I am sure every single member on DTT wishes they were in your position. I know I wish that... I would be happy with any one of those bikes. Congrats on the gain but sorry for the loss mate. bless someone with a bike. it will make you feel good.
 
I love vintage bikes. But truthfully I am young and poor and need money!!!

From my knowledge, most of these bikes are not extremely rare. I think the most expensive may be about 10 thousand, which is a lot of money, but not enough that one day when I make some real money I can go back and get it back.

I think I may keep a triumph. I like the trident.
 
Would 50,000 be enough for the lot? 75,000?

I think each bike ranges from 3,000 to 10,000. So we will see. I was offered 50,000, but I think it can be more.
 
seriously? I call BS. you're asking a bunch of people you know would be super jealous of you and all would die to be in this situation.

you come out of the gate with a list of bikes and no pics but asking for a value. anyone would know its impossible to value anything based on a year make and model....no condition, no pic, no history.

are u seeking attention?

this post reeks of a cry for attention....or you are trolling for a fight. this topic is bound to get some blood boiling...taking someone's prized collection and openly hawking it all "for as much money as possible."

instead of advertising your good fortune...so a bunch of guys can be jealous of u...just do some research...and quietly sell them off.

better yet...put each bike up on eBay with no reserve...you'll get your money. and hope the person who left you that collection doesn't haunt you the rest of your days...
 
oh...if you are in fact looking to get the most most money possible, you wot get it by selling the lot...you'll have to sell them individually. "bulk" equals "discount"...
 
Unless you are living in cardboard box.....I say get a fucking job, put yourself through school and keep the bikes.
 
Chill out guys - give him a chance to respond to all the posts. Who among us has reason to not believe he's telling the truth? Seems like a lot of trouble to go through just to get some response - let's see what comes of this. Having 15 old British bikes in a shed isn't that odd a situation - I've got 5 Japanese bikes in my garage right now. By the time I pass I'm hoping to have a barn with 100+ bikes in it so I can be immortalized in posts on boards all over the world.
 
I'm really shocked by all the hate. I post here for people's "expert" opinion. Anyway here's some photos. I'm trying to create a win win. I want these makes to go to someone in original condition and not cafed or bobbed, and I want to make a few bucks on some bikes that do not mean as much too me as they do someone else.
