Recognize this seat?

whats to recognize?? it looks just like any other fibreglass cafe seat bump with a home made cushion on it.

Check out RocCity cafe racers, or Dime City. They both carry seats that are almost the same as that. Plus, theyre DTT members...

I have to disagree. I've looked at a bunch of seats, including the sites listed in the other replies. I found a few I like, and are the right fit for my bike. It's surprising how only a few changes in size and proportion make the difference between a nice looking seat and a butt fugly one.

I think what people are trying to say is it's not likely an off-the-shelf seat of any sort, but rather more likely a one-off custom job. If it were more distinctive it might be recognizable as a specific aftermarket seat from the 1970's or something.

Just something someone put together or made fit their specific bike.

You may be right. I haven't seen anything else that looks really close to that. I'm leaning toward one of the RocCity seats, just haven't decided which yet. I'll probably get the seat and try the upholstery myself, since the upholstered price is a bit above my budget for the bike (1976 KZ400 w/1980 KZ440 engine). I haven't done any upholstery before, but it's worth a try. I have an old Eddie Bauer leather jacket that I picked up at the thrift store for $5 and have worn last fall and this spring. It looks like it would make a pretty nice cover and would be fairly easy to work with.

Thanks for the replies.

Wow... this is an old thread that I didnt see! ... sorry... Yes... This is a custom seat built specifically for this bike. You can tell how the seat meets up to the tank and blends itself into the tank.
