hey guys, i'm getting bored of the 'stop and go' city riding and am looking for any recommended routes just outside the city where i can let loose on the throttle. i'm not looking for highway riding but maybe any sideroads with less traffic. i live in high park so black creek/400 is an easy exit to any roads.......

any thoughts?

Most popular general area would be Belfountain - Forks of the Credit road if you haven't been up that way. You're not likely to be letting that loose on the throttle, but it's a nice area and lots of bikes.

Where in High Park? I'm in the Junction.

been to the forks of credit, nice ride but more so just the short bit at the forks and cheltenham.

there's gotta be some paved roads bordering a hwy somewhere nearby just waiting for tread!?

im actually in the junction as well. i'll be on the Honda CL350.

i was reading a thread about riding the escarpment. anyone know the route there?

is it hwy 5 towards burlington? directions?

The escarpment is pretty cool You can get on it in the Hammer and then there are a bunch of roads you can ride up an down and go out almost as far as welland. There is some good riding out there, just google map it and you can put together a pretty cool route.

BTW in in the Junction as well, I'm one of the owners of Studio Cycle, drop in some time and say hey. Im usually in on Saturdays. I'll have to join you for a ride later on in the season though, I got hit by a drunk driver on my bike in Edmonton last week and broke my foot. Fortunately that was the extent of it, and I had some really great gear on so no road rash or anthing ugly like that. thank god.

Cheers

......doing the niagara parkway can be a really nice ride (from niagara-on-the-lake to fort erie)....only drag is at times the sunday-drivers can be really slow. it's a nice steady ride tho.
lots of places to visit and explore.......

Dennis - You guys have the sweetest Triumph on the window. Came by last sunday - great selection of gear and bikes.

Jackditch - I usually go north on Jane or Weston till I hit the farmlands.

I'm close to the junction too - ride a 73' CB750

Man I was at the shop all day, kick stands and all. You should have dropped in.

Ya its a 2010 Triumph Thruxton with only 1000km its super sweet to ride, now I just need to find a great home for it somewhere in the city.

Dennis - didn't realize you were one of the guys at Studio! I live around the corner and have been into the shop often. Will have to stop in again soon.

Hope the foot heals fast and well.

No worries Tim, drop by any time. Im usually only there on saturdays buy my brother Dave is there every day.

Stop in n shoot the breeze any time, like I said earlier we love having the old bikes show up.
We dont stock too much for them, but we can help anyone out with gear or service if they need, we just dont do any customizing at the shop.

Cheers.

On Sunday morning a few of us met at The Good Neighbour cafe in the Junction and rode west on Dundas/Hwy5 to Appleby Line North towards Rattlesnake Point in an attempt to score some open country roads. After watching my buddy's CB350 exhaust come tumbling off, hurdling down the road end over end, we circled back to pick it up, pose with the trophy pipe and stash it in a bush to be recovered later and went on our way. With my Scrambler pipes and his lack of exhaust, we sounded like a jet engine tearing around on two wheels disrupting the peace. Once on Appleby going north, it opens up, trees and fields on either side and zero traffic. It tours up towards the escarpment and depending on which sideroads, some decent views that will allow you to forget the city. Only downside is the Dundas portion. Check it.

that "sounded" like fun! Will have to try it out in a couple of weeks. Dundas was bad even on a Sunday?
