Reinstalling Air Box

Any tips for reinstalling the air box on a cb750? It's being a pain!

Soak any rubber mounts in scalding hot water for a couple minutes to soften them up.

That's all I've got man - sorry.

How do you mean "being a pain"? The one on my '78 wasn't that difficult at all.

I think my issue is I need to split the air box instead of installing it in one piece.

I don't have advice specific to that model, but when an air box is hard to get on, I'll usually hit the boots with a heat gun to soften them up. Hair dryer would work too. Don't take it back off. Just heat them up now then try to get them the rest of the way on.

I've only worked on the KZ, but had the same issues. I just kept pushing from different angles - took about an hour for memory.

Dude, I'm havin the same issuse with my gs550. Two on the end go in fine, two in the middle are killin me.. I like the beer and swearin idea. Did that last night and she still sits the same.. Mine are brand new and I'm about ready to blow a gasket.

Oh definitely!

I put a very light coating of grease on the carb lip and would slide my fingers into the airbox as much as I could to push them from the inside. It took some wiggling and a little bit of contortion, but it didn't take long to get them to seat.

Took box apart just so I could see how things line up.
Does this look way off, or is that how it should be?

Figured it out.
A couple boots weren't lined up properly.
I loosened the two carb boots on the outside, used a strap wrench and changed the angle.
It dropped the carbs around 15 degrees.

Lesson learned..... Check boot alignment, and don't tighten them down until airbox is mounted too.

Glad you got it figured out.
I was putting mine back on again today and was thinkin about ya.
