New to bikes so dont go too hard on me. I'm doing a sorta cafe/brat conversion on my 84 gpz550 and I was wondering where would be a good place to throw all these things. I was thinking about relocating all three of them on top of the headlight but now that im running a speedo/tach I think itll be hard to see/access. I dont wanna run them on the bars, I want to keep em clean. Looking for ideas to see what I come up with haha
As far as moving the light switch and starter button goes - aren't they already on the throttle housing? Are you planning to use another throttle?
If you are planning on doing an "open triangle" in front of the rear wheel then there's scope to put the start button (and ignition switch) down there. You could also hardwire the headlight on (most are hardwired anyway over here in Aus).
Neutral light (as well as oil, hi beam, turn signal) should probably be on the top triple somewhere. Best to be able to see those when you are riding.
A lot of people replace their instruments (Speedometer/Tachometer) with a unit that has lights for most of the indicators, including the Neutral light so that's an option.
The light switch should be on the handlebar; there's really no good place for it otherwise as it needs to be available all the time.
I've seen some really slick installations of automotive keyswitches on bikes. The "start button" would be a momentary twist of the key as in a car. That avoids a separate button.
