Removing decals.

I am working on my nighthawk. I am attempting to remove all the factory striping and decals. I do plan on repainting it but not sure when. Well trying to peel these off it just comes off in 1/8 pieces. I would like to have them off till I paint it but if theres no easier way i may just live with the decals and let the painter deal with it when I finally ship it out.

Heatgun and/or GooGone. I've even used heat and a piece of floss in the past but be careful not to ignite any solvent you put on the tank :) The best thing for the paint is your fingernail as it wont scratch like a scraper would. Lets see some pics of the issue

Oh I almost forgot, you can get a handheld garment steamer from walmart and soften it with water and heat, worked wonders when I removed factory tint from my car!!

Both of the above are great suggestions.
I have a 2500 degree heat gun that does the trick pretty well.
Once you start tearing it up into smaller pieces though it becomes much harder.
Start with the intact side and slowly heat and peel. Don't get impatient it takes a while.

+1 to above. I use and replace decals at work and do a lot of them at home. Tearing them off a lot of bikes I get also.. I like to use bug and tar remover by turtle wax after I get the decal off in hopes I don't damage the paint at all. But if your repainting anyways a harsher chemical will work good as well. I have used goo gone in the past on some cl350 side covers though and it took some of the lovely honda yellow off the side covers with it.

Well my painter /friend told me leave it alone. He advised me cost is no different there going to blast all the parts anyways. Thanks for the tips. Will post pics as soon as shes painted.
