Hey guys I removed the gear indicator lights when I took the dash out, I kept the turn signals highbeam oil and neutral from the main Console. I'm redoing the electric and previously I had just crimped off the ends of those wires I'm looking at this diagram can I remove the entire wire from that unit?

Pretty sure the connector block is under the tank. Just unplug it.

You could probably pick up a neutral sender unit from a GS without a gear indicator - I'm pretty sure they use the same fitting type over the twins and fours. Otherwise you could just cut off the gear wires from the sender you have now and delete the wiring.

When you say cut off the wires from the sender, you mean just keep the neutral wire attached to the switch and get rid of all the others?

Thanks I am an idiot

No you're not - at least you asked before you hacked into stuff ;)

Here's a gear sender:

And here's a neutral sender:

Same body, just different amount of pins / wires.

Thanks Hillsy, the PO or the POPO made a mess of the electric. I am cleaning it up before I put in a new RR and Stator. I am doing as much if the smaller electric myself since it's my first time and might have the mechanic do the RR and stator.

Have you tested the RR and stator? There should be tests in the manual / troubleshooting, etc. A lot of the time charging issues are just bad wiring.

Its not hard to replace a stator or RR - easily something you could do yourself if it comes to that.

Hillsy took the tank off and found the plug,
Seams the neutral wire is the blue as it connects to the neutral indicator light.

So I can just crimp those wires as low as possible and secure the blue wire better to the harness backbone.

This is what I did before and well, looks like garbage and I didn't take the time to do it right at all.

Now I can get rid of a ton of wires in the headlight area
