Removing oil filter rotor on 360?

I have all the tabs on the lock washer bent back, and I made a spanner tool thingy, so...

Question is: Is there a safe way to brace the other side of the crank where the generator is while I lean on a breaker bar? I've already torqued it enough that the 14mm nut came off the other side...
 
Oh...and aside question too that may necessitate re-opening the case and render the first question moot.

Should I be able to shift through all the gears without the clutch and drive gear installed? I can only get into first and neutral (both of which the crank spins freely)...but the shift actuator will only make it go between those two gears

I can't get my bike to do anything other than 1st, Neutral and 2nd if the engine is not running. I have to spin it over to get to the next gear and that makes sense seeing how they are built.
 
Ooooh nice! Unfortunately though, when I disassembled this CJ360 engine last fall, I couldn't for the life of me get the lock nut off, and since I was cracking the case anyway to clean it out, i just did that and lifted out the crank with both ends still on.

Now that I'm trying to put it all back together, I forgot to slip the clutch bucket on before sealing the case. ><
 
OK then trying to put the bike in gear won't help either because the clutch connects the crank with the tranny. Have you got a strap wrench? You can hold the stator rotor or the oil filter housing with it. MAYBE A PIPE WRENCH but I wouldn't do it. What ever you do don't jam something in between the stator and the housing, stators will crack or break very easily.

Worst comes to worst, you can take a hammer and a screw driver and beat the lock nut loose.

/e didn't work >.> maybe cracking the case to ghetto fit the clutch basket back on to give it resistance =/
 
Buy an impact driver like I posted earlier. Slide the lock nut tool on to the end of it. Hit the end of the impact driver with a hammer while twisting the body of the impact driver counter clock wise. After a few strikes of the hammer it should turn freely.

Everyone who works on old vehicles should have one of these they are great for getting out 40 y/o phillips head screws as well.
 
Ok I just gave it another go; braced the pipe wrench on a board on the concrete floor and used the breaker bar again - slipped a little and then made the most satisfying loosening I think I can remember...

/e Thanks for the impact driver suggestions too - unfortunately I made the sprocket thingy out of a 1/2" socket and not a 3/8" like my impact driver is =/ I do love that thing though...never would have gotten the engine apart in the first place w/o it XD
