I have mikuni vm30s and have been having issues at low throttle. I am pulling my carbs apart to possibly rejet. Just wondering how I remove mt pilot jet. Do I simply push it out from reverse side like stock carbs or something else?
Also plan on running hotter plugs bp8es since my plugs were sooty. Is that right?
Make sure you use a properly sized screwdriver - the brass can get pretty chewed up.
And don't over do it when you put them back in. They don't need to be torqued down or anything
What bike are you working on? Start with the plugs they specify, and work from there. Plug gap is very important too. But then again, so is spark, so fix your coil issue before you do anything else.
Once you have that sorted, dial in your valve lash (tappet clearance) and timing. These things do not change regardless of how well tuned the carbs are. But if they're off, tuning the carbs is a complete waste of time.
