Removing Rear Spring and Adjusting Rear Shocks

I did a search but I couldn't find anything about this on the forum.

I was wondering how do you remove the spring from the rear shocks? I know that the spring needs to be compressed, then what next? In the $50 mod thread IMOALE used clamps/spreaders to compress the shocks and I plan to do the same.

Also, how do you adjust the rear shocks?

Thanks guys!

For me, this job only required one tool -- a hook spanner.

First I knelt with the shock standing on end. Inserted the spanner between two coils, horizontal to the ground. Then just lean on the spring and have someone knock out the two spring seat stoppers (that's the real name, I would call them spring retainers.) With those two pieces gone, the spring will slide off the top of the shock.

Use a hook spanner to adjust the shocks as well. Disassembling the shock will be easiest with it on the lightest preload setting.

hope that helps
